iPhone Touch Screen not working - iOS 17

I recently updated my iPhone 14 Pro Max to IOS 17 and everything has been working really well. I woke up this morning and my iPhone's touch screen was unresponsive and won't let me unlock my phone. I found a way to restart my phone by clicking the top volume button, then the bottom volume button, and then holding the lock button, however that did not fix the issue. I work primarily off of my phone so I need to get this fixed ASAP. Any tips?

After latest iOS 17 update, my iPhone 13 touchscreen is completely unresponsive - It won’t even let me restart or shut down. Major crisis! Hey, Apple: Please help us fix this problem soon!

Same here. Updated to ios 17, phone overheats & screen goes off. I’ve had it looked at & I had a loose connection but they fixed it & worked ok until it overheated again. I also can’t update to .2 or .3 as it will download but tells me it can’t install due to not being on the internet… But I have unlimited home & mobile data 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Come on Apple, sort it out!

This is the second time this has happened to me. The last time I did what you said with vol. up vol. down, hold and continue holding it with the power button until powered off, continue to hold and the Apple screen comes on with a request to plug into a computer. This then prompts your computer the ability to roll back the update. It worked about 2 months ago. Phone updated last nigh and now it won’t work, reboot and the iTunes tries but says firmware is corrupt!

Updated 1OS 17.3.1 this morning - touch screen didn't work afterwards.

Tried using some of the advice below but the phone wouldn't even shut down.

Do not despair! I used someone else's advice and connected to my MacBook using a USB C cable.

I then needed to restore my iPhone 15 to factory settings and restore iCloud. Very frustrating, an annoyance but it worked and everything is working.

Just a tip for anyone trying out these solutions:

If you turn off your phone, the Wifi (and iCloud backup) will be turned off and will not turn back on unless you can unlock your phone using the touch screen. Since the force restart seems to only work for some people, I recommend letting your iCloud photos and whatnot completely upload on wifi before shutting off your device. Otherwise you will end up losing all that stuff if the restart doesn't solve the touch issue.

Wanted to maybe save some folks from the situation I'm in, where I have now lost a bunch of photos because I was impatient for a solution (that didn't even work)... c'est la vie!

This happened to me this AM with the latest OS 17.3.1 update. The up/down/hold worked to reboot it, but that didn't fix it. I had to plug it in to get it into restore mode, and then completely restore the phone, but it's working. Clearly software, clearly a bug post-update because my screen showed that it had been updated overnight.

Hi jochem177 & no one at Apple ever replied to my 4 emails.

iMazing software, that I purchased, restored my iPhone 15 with no data loss, BUT then, 3 weeks later my iPhone Speaker stopped working (ie. people could not hear me on phone calls, but I could hear them, when my iPhone was on Speaker & they could only hear me if my iPhone was not on Speaker). I tried at least 3 software repairs to no avail. I then went back to the Apple store last week, and demanded a replacement iPhone 15, since it was under warranty (who knows what might go next on it) and I now have a 'new?' iPhone 15 but, so far, the battery is now draining a lot faster on my new iPhone 15 than my first iPhone 15 (I have turned OFF many Background App refreshes to see if this will slow down my battery draining so quickly). I now backup my iPhone every 3-4 days with iMazing software (not iTunes) terrified the replacement iPhone 15 will crash too. I've never had any problems, ever, with any of my cell phones in the past like this iPhone 15 Plus.

I encountered this issue today after recently updating my iPhone 11 Pro to 17.3.1. It was restarting for about 40 minutes and for a brief moment being on the touch screen was completely unresponsive. Thank goodness I didn't have a busy appointment scheduled say today, this would have been majorly inconvenient.

I just got it to start working, I plugged my iPhone into my Acer with iTunes open, touch volume up button, touch volume down button, and then hold lock button until it reset and slowly touch began to work again.

If you have a Mac, I would suggest trying the « revive » fonction with the « configurator » app. I had tried all the other suggestions and it was the only thing that worked for me. It took a little time for the computer to do it but in the end I did not have to factory reset my phone!

before the configurator app, I had actually tried to factory reset my phone and it didn’t even work. I got a message that the firmware was corrupted.

I am having the same problem. My Iphone 14 Max isn't even 9 months old and still paying it off. This started 4 weeks ago. My phone became unresponsive. I restarted it a number of time and this did not work. So I reset it back to factory settings the first time it did not work but the second time it did. I backed up my phone and was working for under 24 hours and now back to being unresponsive. I went into the store they won't help me because there is nothing wrong with the phone itself it's the software. the phone is in great condition. Please tell me there is a solution to this problem. Please someone help.
