iPhone Touch Screen not working - iOS 17

I recently updated my iPhone 14 Pro Max to IOS 17 and everything has been working really well. I woke up this morning and my iPhone's touch screen was unresponsive and won't let me unlock my phone. I found a way to restart my phone by clicking the top volume button, then the bottom volume button, and then holding the lock button, however that did not fix the issue. I work primarily off of my phone so I need to get this fixed ASAP. Any tips?

Let’s ensure that you have properly used the Forced Restart method shown below.

——

Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

Exactly. These types of widespread problems after a software update, is due to bugs in the software. They’ll need to own it and fix it fast or they’ll have a tremendous amount of consumers choosing to quit apple phones vs buying a new iPhone. I’d like to believe this was an honest error and not a ploy to sell a massive number of new phones. Typing this message took so long and a ton frustrating edits because of the stupid update messing up my keyboard and my touch screen accuracy. Ugh!!

This has happened to me today. The screen was working perfectly, did the iOS 17.3 upgrade and the touch screen function has stopped on restart. I've done the recommended reset and nothing... I've released the right button before the apple appears, when the apple appears and after the apple appears and then disappears and the result is the same. It's and 15 Pro Max that was working perfectly prior to the software upgrade...

This worked for me as well! The hard-restart method didn't help. The employees at the Apple store I visited wouldn't try this for me at first (I don't own a Mac to try it myself). They insisted it wouldn't work. But, the nice woman who was helping me went ahead & tried it anyway, and it worked!!! Saved me many years of priceless photos & albums. Next time I will be vigilant about backing up my data. Had never had a problem before this.

My iPhone 15 Plus, purchased directly from Apple, is also bricked after update iOS 17.3 and I'm in a battle with Apple. Unfortunately, I never updated my data on my iPhone 15 Plus (because none of my previous iPhones ever failed) and recovering the data is crucial. I've been told that data recovery will cost from $595 to $1595 for the iPhone 15 Plus. Since I did nothing to damage my new iPhone 15 Plus, and it was working perfectly up until running iOS 17.3, I feel that Apple should be covering the cost to retrieve the data off the phone. Also, I've already been informed at an authorized Apple dealer that, at a minimum, my Midsystem chip needs to be replaced which will delete ALL existing data. Initially, I took my iPhone to the Apple store, but the service was so awful (none of my questions were not clearly answered) that I took the iPhone 15 to an Apple authorized dealer. The authorized Apple dealer already had Screens in stock, but even the new Display screen did not respond to touch. I've already invested a considerable amount of time trying to get the iPhone 15 Plus working and I'm using my still working iPhone 10 once again. Does anyone have any additional advice to offer on resolving my iPhone 15 Plus Brick problem caused after running iOS 17.3 update?

The left side of my screen isn't responding to touch, making it impossible for me to open apps on that side of the home screen. This issue arose after updating to iOS 17.3. Oddly enough, long-press functionality still works on the left side. It seems like the developers missed this detail while introducing bugs in the software update. Perhaps they should consider spending less on development and focus more on quality control. It's frustrating that these issues might be intentional to push users to upgrade to newer iPhone models. PATHETIC!

Same here. Updated to ios 17, phone overheats & screen goes off. I’ve had it looked at & I had a loose connection but they fixed it & worked ok until it overheated again. I also can’t update to .2 or .3 as it will download but tells me it can’t install due to not being on the internet… But I have unlimited home & mobile data 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Come on Apple, sort it out!
