iPhone Touch Screen not working - iOS 17

Try connecting phone to apple laptop and hope to find the 'update' option available, as it may have updated the phone with a glitch. Try updating the phone with same iOS version, hope that helps.

If 'update' option is greyed out, only option is to restore to factory setting.

OMG thank you. I just updated to 17.2.1 tonight. When I tired to use the phone, the touchscreen did not respond! I could not unlock the screen. Nor could I slide to turn off. I followed your directions above. With exception to plugging it into any computer. This had the phone shut down. Then I was able to turn it on with the Apple logo. Once it booted up, it resumed working normally. Thank you!

Having the same issue today. Not having any luck with the suggestions. It's below zero here in Chicago. I don't want to venture out into the frigid weather. So, Apple would not replace the screen or phone at no charge? We are required to do the updates to prevent things like this from happening. When the updates cause the problem, Apple should be held accountable.

Very disappointed and frustrated.

got the same issue iphone xs dont know why apple old products just stop working overnight. hope apple resolves the issue. if you found a way to fix it please share it

After updating to ioe17 i have a big problem with the touch even after hard restart

I am facing he'll problem with my iPhone 13 promax after the new ios 7.1 & 7.2 installed. The screen is not working anymore and even after force restart several times and day still not working. it's over 10 days now that I have been able to access the phone.i can't format it bcod of the code as the screen unresponsive.

Mine did the same. I had accidentally pressed something - wasn’t paying attention ?? 😄 ?? as the screen did say something about options which I clicked out of and then my screen was unresponsive. Could not even turn it off as Apple Support page suggests. So I then used Siri to “Power Off” - by holding the right hand side button in until the Siri circle came up and then said Hey Siri, Power Off iPhone - yes, and it switched off. About to restart so fingers crossed! Ok yay that worked! Good luck everyone!

As soon as updated my iPhone 11 Pro to iOS 17, boom, I started having the issue of an unresponsive screen. It takes about 10 or more forced resets to fix the issue only for it to happen again after some hours.

Best bet is to get your iPhone examined at the Apple Store or at an Authorized Service center for further diagnosis and a resolution. You may a failing touchscreen.

Took my phone into Apple and they finally figured out they needed to do a factory reset in order to correct the problem. It now seems to be back to the way it was before.

You’re one of the lucky ones tbh. After doing all that and flashing my phone it go still didn’t work and I ended up changing my whole screen by buying a cheap screen from Amazon. The quality of the screen is bad but my eyes have gotten used to it

I just got mine unlocked. I did up volume, down volume, then lock and kept holding until it went off and when Apple came back I let go. When it came on I was able to unlock my phone and it’s responsive to touch

Woke up this morning and my iPhone 14 won't respond to touch...which means I can't do anything on it. Can't unlock. Can't unlock to allow accessories, nothing. airpods won't connect without it unlocking. I am on iOS 17, though not sure what subversion. I know there was an update Apple wanted me to install but hadn't had a chance yet. I can get it into recovery mode, but "update" won't work which leaves "restore" and I'll lose all recent content on the phone....VERY FRUSTRATING. It's also just over one year old...how convenient...

When I tried the restart I got 911 operator asking what my emergency was. This problem needs to be fixed. I have the new iPhone 15 plus max for one month and it’s done this 3 times. My husband tried to get it to go on and also got the 911 operator asking about our emergency.
