some iCloud data isn't syncing

Just upgraded from iPhone 14pro (ios 17) to iPhone 15 pro (ios 17.0.2) and set up the new phone via icloud backup. All data loaded in except for my messages, health data, and keychain/passwords. I get an alert in settings

`Some iCloud data isn't syncing. Your end-to-end encrypted data stored in iCloud can't be accessed on this device. It includes saved passwords and data from Health and Maps. Verify your account information to resume syncing.`

When clicking resume syncing, I enter the passcode for the phone and get a new popup to reset end-to-end encrypted data which I do not want to do so I don't lose that data. I have other trusted devices on my account that can access the data (at least the messages as far as I can see, I can't see health data on mac).

I tried wiping the phone and setting it up again from the backup, entering the 6 digit code sent to my trusted mac when logging in and I was able to get messages to load in but still none of the other data and I still get the same notification in settings. I've spoken with 5 advisors at this point who all told me my only option is to reset the data, aka delete it. Not sure if there is any other way? I have multiple trusted devices, the correct login info, and can see that the data is present in icloud, just can't be synced to the new phone.

Are there any other ways to verify the account information for icloud on the phone so that the end to end encrypted data can remain in tact and sync to this phone?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 17

solved - it is safe to click reset. it will NOT delete the data, only the encryption keys. Some of the advisors were confused on this but just got help from a great advisor named William who saved the day

Currently, it seems something is really messed up:

1) Some iCloud data isn't syncing. Your end-to-end encrypted data stored in iCloud can't be accessed on this device --> press button for fix, it's just loading for 2-3 minutes and then just go back to the previous screen.

2) in icloud Passwords and Messages is deactivated. Health is shown as activated, but when I click on it, then on the submenu it's deactivated. Trying to activate --> unknown error.

3) Find My Network. I can turn on Find my phone, but the Find my Network won't turn on ---> Click the switch for turn on --> your account security must be higher -> next --> updating Apple ID --> loading circle and nothing happens.

I'm out of ideas on what to do and still hope it's related to some server issues on Apple's side ...

Same issue. When I enter a passcode for other iPhone I get the alert:

Title: Verification Failed

Message: There was an error verifying the passcode of your iPhone.

I am not able to access:

Messages,

Photos,

Passwords

And everything else that other people on this thread mentioned.

I do not want to obviously delete messages and photos, so I have no choice but to not sync my iCloud account until this issue is fixed.

@Apple please fix this issue. This is unbelievably bad.

On my iMac Desktop: I am getting the same message: "Some iCloud Data Isn't Syncing" Your end-to-end encrypted data stored in iCloud can't be accessed on this device. It includes saved passwords and data from Health and Maps. Verify your account information to resume syncing.

After clicking "Resume Data Sync" it prompts me to type my password into the box. After typing in my password and hitting "Continue". Nothing happens.

same here on MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1:

Some iCloud Data Isn't Syncing

This MacBook Pro isn't syncing your end-to-end encrypted data across all of your devices. It includes saved passwords and data from Health and Maps. Verify your account information to resume syncing.

Trying to press "resume data sync" - no go. sometimes it ask for a password, sometimes it does nothing.

iCloud has become unusable due to its simply being unreliable. Its embarrassing to use this "(fill in what you think it is)" in front of my customers. I am paying for this by the way. iCloud drive downloads tons of GB over and over again. How do you like that mother nature?

I never had these turned on, so why am I getting error messages? Come on Apple, start fixing things!! Is this your poor attempt to get me to use the false hood of Two Factor? With todays technology, we shouldn't need two factor, we have face id and finger print, also you should already know where most people live by IP address, and you should know when someone from another area is trying to log into an account that's mine, block them, not me!! You have this false sense you feed to people you are safe with two factor, but your not. Your iCloud got hacked a year ago and you never mentioned it publicly. I got little notice and that was it. You are the ones we have to worry about, and this is why i won't use iCloud to hold keychains and passwords.

SO why is my syncing giving error for something I don't use???

I’m having the same problem. Except I was willing to reset all my passwords and pushed I don’t have the code and it didn’t do anything.

I also have run into this- I don’t have a recovery contact so we are trying to set it up. On 2 different devices I have tried to set it up and says I can’t because I’m not using iMessage. I have turned iMessage off 3-5 times and it still says it.

sounds like Apple needs an update

Have a similar issue. Message reads “some iCloud data isn’t syncing “ and when I resume syncing it asks me for my iphone passcode and then my ipad passcode. I did that. Then it asks me for my passcode on my old iphone which I do not have anymore since 2 years and no clue what this passcode was. How the **** is that even relevant for syncing icloud on my devices in my possession? This is so frustrating!

Signing in and out of icloud as some here suggested did not remove the issue. It actually resulted in losing all my passwords on my ipad. When I signed back into icloud with my Apple ID it asks me to then enter the passcode for my iphone and then I am asked to enter the passcode for my ipad. I did that but then it asks me again to enter my old passcode. Why is it asking for my old passcode of a device I do not have anymore? This doesn’t make any sense. Also, it does not specify which old passcode and from when. I am changing my passcode every month (which is our company security policy) so it is almost impossible to replicate an old passcode.
