Sonoma 14.0 update internet problems

Eferret do you have ANY network security software on your Mac? Even antivirus. Little Snitch, etc?

My connection broke due a simple network filter.

Dear all, thanks a lot! In my case, 1.4 Intel MBP, it was the app Little Snitch, which I found in the network filters. Deactivation solved my internet, which did not work neither via WLAN nor via ethernet.

I had this same problem on my MacBook Pro (M2 2022) but it had nothing to do with antivirus software. I found two Safari folders in Library/Containers/. I moved the older one to the desktop and re-launched Safari with no problem.

The update to Sonoma creates big issues connecting to the internet, even though the machine show a solid connection. After consuming much time getting rid of everything I am supposed to have on this machine, including filters and VPN and using activity monitor to force quit apps, the Mac suddenly connected to the internet, but only on the office network. I am left without any internet when I am mobile and joining other networks. There really is no reason why any software that protects our machines should be removed after this update. Again, after removing anti-virus, Sonoma still does not connect [before removing anti-virus, it suddenly connected to one network, but rejects all others outside the office]. Obviously there's some security routine built into Sonoma that is causing these issues. Apple needs to provide an update solution immediately. Not being able to use my computer mobile at work is a nightmare.

The solution had nothing to do with anti-virus or network filtering for me. Simply clear the network and add it again, by right clicking the device settings in network. This was the astute solution of a very able tech at Apple.

I am IT support at my company, was handed a new MacBook Pro, user couldn't figure out why the wifi was connected but no internet, I tried some trouble shooting.... then plugged in ethernet and still no luck, manually entered the IP address... no luck. Read this post and disabled the filter... success!

I have the exact same issue, but I don’t have ESET—I don’t know that I have antivirus at all. Any idea what it is about the anti-virus? Maybe I have software that creates a similar issue.

With the Sonoma 14.2.1 update, I was able to turn Lulu back on with no problems. ProtonVPN running too.

I don't have wifi because of this, so I'm still unable to reinstall it.I placed it in the trash without using the uninstaller so I am trying to find code to insert into the terminal. Could you help with that please?

Turning off my network VPNs gets me internet but I need those VPNs to do my work Remote Desktop. Plus they just turn themselves back on after a minute or so. We have to be able to use everything. Help?!

It is not antivirus or VPN. What next, they tell us to lower our firewall (they did)??

It is their Sonoma issue. Follow my directions and it should resolve. Do not expose your network. This sounds like a tactic and one that opens your machine to attack.

Hi, I am using Sonoma on a new M2 BacBook Air. I am quite familiar with the Settings area of Macs, but for the life of me, I cannot find the "Network Filters" that you wrote about after I go into "Network." Are screenshots allowed here?

I just got my machine, and more than once I have experienced the wi-fi connection dropping, and as well my ethernet/PPPoE connection dropping. They are different services from different ISPs, and both are 100% stable on my other Macs.

I have no VPN installed. Do have one adblocker installed.

I feel that it must be something that Sonoma is doing...

I am going out of my mind with this since i upgraded 2 days ago, i can't connect to the internet either by wifi or ethernet after the update so I am going around in circles as everything needs the internet to fix?? I have tried everything here, even recovery mode to no avail and i cant even go revert back?

My wifi icon won't switch on at all and is not showing up in the system settings with the Network etc...

Anyone with any other suggestions please, my imac is useless now!

Your solution did not work for me. I "forgot" my Wi-Fi net work, and then went back and logged on to the net work. Computer shows it's connected to the Wi-Fi but Mac says "you're off-line. check your connection"
