IPhone 15 Pro Max keyboard not registering clicks and some keys are not sensitive

Anyone experiencing insensitive keys on the keyboard? Some keys near the edge of my phone that are noticeably less sensitive and irresponsive than the rest (with and without a screen protector). I have to click pretty hard multiple times in order for the keys to register. The keys that are having issues registering my clicks are Backspace and "P". I tested the demo phones in the store and they all seem normal and much more sensitive.

I had the same exact issue. Just updated to IOS 17.1, which, according to Apple:

Fixes an issue that may cause the keyboard to be less responsive

And it does! Issue resolved. My backspace, “L” key and “M” key are functioning again!

Hope it works for y'all as well.

Same. It’s so frustrating. “S” key almost never works and “L” and others are laggy. Apostrophe too. I’ve updated the IOS, turned on haptics, and googled solutions. The experience is awful, backing up and re-typing. Yes- talk to text is an option, but my iPhone 12 keyboard was 100x éter (that’s better with the new keyboard) than this. I agree with a previous post that using the flat pad of your finger works better, but that’s not how most folks text.

I just purchased the 15 Pro Max two days ago, and am noticing the same thing. It’s hard to click on things too close to the edge of the screen, but other keys seem almost too sensitive and I’m constantly accidentally closing out of or minimizing things, adding spaces I didn’t click for, or am just generally having issues where the keys seem to have a mind of their own.

In my case I was having an issues with keying in inputs to numerous automated phone answering systems. The automated systems would give me numbers to select with corresponding options. Each time I selected a number it would tell me "Your input is invalid.", or "That key is not an option", and this would happen regardless who I called. I called Apple, and they had me reset my keyboard, which didn't resolve my issue, so they told me to contact my carrier. My carrier had me rest my network settings, which didn't resolve my issue either. Finally they asked me if I had a case on my phone, and of course I did, which they had me remove. They had me try calling a number I was having issues with, and it worked. I put the case back on, and it didn't. I believe it may have been the Magsafe element in that specific case which was interfering with something in the iPhone.

I’m not making anything up. Why would I do that?

Besides, there may be a little over 50 complaints, but what about the 581 me toos? What about the reports on Macrumors, Reddit etc.?

Anyway, when browsing discussions, I can see there a certain percentage of older models (11, 12, 13) had the same problem.

I would just like to hear from Apple whether it is reasonable to wait for a software update, or should I just try to exchange the phone, as I believe the latter won’t be so simple for me to do.

I had the screen changed on my iPhone 15 Pro Max because of this issue, but it has made no difference whatsoever. Apple must be aware of this issue but appear to be happy to ignore it. The most frustrating thing is that when you try to take a photo eight times out of ten the first tap on the shutter button isn’t recognised and the moment is lost. It’s a pity that the press haven’t picked this issue up and shamed Apple in to doing something.
