iPhone 15 Pro Max Apple Pay not working

When i try to use Apple Pay on my new phone, after double clicking on side button, message comes up to bring phone nearer to the terminal, i have had phone in all positions on the terminal but payment will not complete, then the wallet app freezes when i try to cancel app and restart. It is not just one cards it happens on all cards. I have tried cancelling cards and re-applying them, restarting phone, these have not resolved the problem. Meanwhile apple pay on my watch is working fine. Anyone had this problem, or has ideas to fix?

In Apple Store , they tested and Apple Pay was not working . Their diagnostic showed the sensor was good hence they said it was a software issue and I need to take back up of everything and reinstall . Nothing worked. They dont want to replace the phone . Went to Verizon store where I bought the phone and they replaced it with a brand new phone . Now the new one is working good. Surprised with the customer service from Apple Store , even they tested and confirmed the Apple Pay was not working .. good that I didn’t buy this phone in an Apple Store

After Apple support did the online diagnostics they sent me to an authorised apple repairer but they weren’t able to say how long it would take - possibly weeks and no replacement phone in the meantime. 🙄Not good enough after paying so much only two months ago. After another hour back onto Apple Support yesterday and they agreed to replace my phone with a new one. They’re sending it to me (I live a long way from Apple Store) and I can keep this one til it arrives. I did have to give credit card to cover cost that will be fully refunded when I send my faulty phone back.

I was finally able to get Apple Cash working. The Apple tech spent about an hour going over literally every possibility (short of swapping the iP for another one) as to why Apple Cash wasn't working and 2Fa continued to indicate it was on and functioning properly when it wasn't. We finally signed out of iCloud and signed back in after restarting the iP. That worked. Apparently when restoring from my old iP13p to the new iP15p, iCloud didn't sign me back in. Although I don't use it for anything financial, iCloud is necessary to use Apple Cash apparently. In any case, kind of a simple fix to what was a lengthy and annoying problem. Hopefully this fix may help someone with their Wallet or Apple Cash issue.

(Now... if "My-Q" will fix their app to operate with the new iOS, that would be great)

thank you all for your patience.

Same issue with my brand new IPhone 15Pro. I signed out iCloud, re-signed in, remove and added cards, restarted the phone, checked that all cards has an address…nothing worked.

I started thinking about a case issue, but even without the case same problem. Apple support launched a remote diagnosis and seems that my phone has no hardware issues.

But the behaviour is unoredictable: on Tuesday worked with out issues, on Wednesday stopper again with all tentative I had.

Considering the well noted issue with BMW wireless charging and the Heating one, personally I think that something in the new phone hardware cause interferences on the nfc module and I don’t think it can be solved via bug fixing.

It is unacceptable that a basic and so critical functionality doesn’t work!

will call again Apple support and ask for a replacement…

Same problem. Talked to what seemed like everyone at US Bank, they said they couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t add my US Bank card to my iPhone wallet. (Although my wife could add it to her iPhone wallet) I used US Bank app to change my PIN number on my card and then tried to add it from the app. BANG! It worked! I can now add my bank card to my apple wallet.

hi, I just recently got the iPhone 15 plus less than two weeks ago. My Apple Pay is having the same issue. It happened to me when I was in the Apple Store as well, which is funny to me. I lost my physical apple card in my room somewhere and I have idea where it is. Anyway, I have been trying to use Apple Pay and the best thing I have done was pretty much was reset the phone which still hardly works. Still unsure what to do. It has nothing to do with my cards, just the phone. My phone is updated and everything...

in my case of NFC diagnostics were ok both remotely and in real time at apple store. So no issues apparently both in software and hardware looking at diagnostics. When also the Genius tried to pay via Apple pay he did not manage to use it (a dozen of tests in front of me after all my tests). I tried all the resetting and restoring upon Apple support requeat after they launched the diagnostic.

Basically, the whole issue seems more than suspicious to me. I had the same problem with two new iPhone 15 Pro Max devices, neither of which were older than a month. That is, when trying to pay with Apple Pay, my Visa debit and credit cards were displayed, but the payment process was not completed. I first encountered this problem AFTER updating to iOS 17.0.3 (on the first iPhone 15 Pro Max) and then again after switching phones (on the second iPhone 15 Pro Max) WHEN updating from 17.1 to 17.1.1. The troubleshooting measures I took at that time included: restarting the phone, re-adding cards to the wallet, resetting network settings, and updating via iTunes. After a diagnosis at Apple, it turned out that the NFC sensor was not broken on either phone. PS: Just to be sure, my NFC sensor was also restarted once remotely by a apple supervisor.

Long story short: Apple Pay is working for me again now, but I must say that I am still on iOS 17.1.1 and have not performed any more updates because I am afraid that it will stop working again with the next update. Honestly, I'm not even sure what exactly solved the issue, perhaps it was also the tip to log out of iCloud, perform a forced reset, and then log back into iCloud. Maybe it was something else. In any case, it also cost me many hours.
