USB C on iPhone 15 not working

I’m having a charging issue as well, but i’m using the cord that came inside the apple iphone box. When plugged in, my phone will repeatedly make the visual and audible symbol for unplugging and plugging it in as if it can’t hold a solid connection with the charger. Super annoying to hear while trying to sleep. I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to do.

Just found a solution after speaking to apple.

when connecting to my Mac Studio it said my iPhone was in DFU mode. It wouldn’t charge. Apple guided me to force restart.

This solved the issue for me. I am now able to charge over the usb c port.

The problem does NOT depend on the quality of the cable or charger. I have an iPhone 15 and my wife has an identical one. Mine is charging my wife’s device is not. Same charger same cable. And furthermore it worked for my wife in the beginning.

I'm having similar issues when using a USB A to USB C cable. Unable to connect to Apple Car play and home USB charging when using third party cables (a few high quality). Hopefully a software update to fix this soon.

While that may be the case for some, that’s not the case for me. These issue suddenly started happening for everyone around the same time iOS 17 came out. Also, this is happening with brand new iPhone 15…so no dirt or lint.

I bought the new iPhone 15 plus pink 1 month ago my own apple usb c charging cable from my Apple iPhone 15 plus box doesn’t charge my phone …. I bought new apple usb c and same issue only can charge my phone with mag safe…. I’m at not using any non apple cords or box… so don’t say it’s a no name brand it’s Apple …. Please fix Apple running 17.1.3 waiting for 17.2 update

Brand new phone and can't charge it in the car with the expensive cable I bought. Fix it Apple! This is basic stuff!

I've had the same issue with both my iPad and iPhone 15 Pro, and now my new home hub mini. The attempts to charge/work and just looks like it's connecting/disconnecting rapidly. I've tried a combination of cables (Apple v non) etc, and both have been checked to be thoroughly clean. The summary of where I've gotten to:

-- I only get the problem with USB-C to USB-C connection. If I use the same sockets/chargers etc with USB-A to USB-C it's absolutely fine.

-- Using the same ports with an USB-C to USB-C cable charge any other non-Apple devices without any problem (even a power heavy 15" PC Laptop).

-- If a magsafe is used on the same ports, again charges completely fine.

-- I have Power sockets in the house walls that have both USB-C and USB-A ports built in. Using the USB-A socket they charge fine, not the USB-C.

---- Electrician has checked the supply from these - said they are fine, but said the Apple devices appear to be controlling how much power is being drawn and it the device itself thats stopping it from charging. Electrican has confirmed these as being able to output in the following 5V DC 3A - up to 15W, 9V DC 2A - up to 18W, 12V DC 1.5A - up to 18W and designed to work with both USB-PD and USB-QC. So despite the fact the power negotiation with the Apple device is stopping it from drawing the power, it should work.

-- Although this has been happening ever since I had the iPhone 15 Pro, it's only started happening with the iPad in the last month. (Don't know if this is timed with an update, as I haven't checked often enough).

I'm at a total loss, Apple don't seem to know (they've just asked me to get in contact after the next update). And I don't really want to go and buy a load of new USB-A to USB-C adapters just so they charge directly.

Thought this might help shed further light on what seems to be a problem for a lot of people.

Same problem!! I hate it!! I can literally only use one charger!! Of course they are gonna make you go buy an expensive Apple charger to have an extra one in your car 😑!! Why didn't they stick with the Apple charger!! It is one thing that made it different from Samsung and it charged so much better and faster! Go back to the regular charging port please!!

Crazy but my iphone 15 pro will not charge in my house at all but charges on my car charger which has 12.3 volts currently. i have tried great accessories including original charger which comes with the phone obviously minus purchase great 3 party cube and also have multiple cheap ones but this only started today ... i have an update i will do tonight after im at 20% and will let everyone know if that helped or not ... for now i sit in tha car to charge my phone 🥴

Don’t listen to the fools who think it is cable related. I had the same problem with 4 different cables, in the car, with a usb charger and mains plug. All fixed with the old ‘IT Crowd’ solution; have you tried switching it off and on again?

Im having the same problem, it doesn't matter what cord I use, I have to do a rest to get it to charge. I feel that this expensive of a phone should not be doing this- I should be able to just plug it in and not worry- never had this problem with the other apple phones I owned

If your iPhone charges correctly with the original Apple adaptor and charging cable there is no fault in the iPhone. The problem you describe is likely to be defective or cheap uncertified cables and no-name power adaptors which do not comply with the recognised standards. There is a lot of counterfeit and non-compliant junk out there which looks good and is cheap, but it is not all it pretends to be. Some of it just won't work, other may even be dangerous if it connects to mains power.

I am pretty sure you will find your iPhone will charge if you try accessories from well known and reputable third parties. My list is not exclusive, but you have a good chance with products from suppliers like Mopie or Belkin, and anything branded by well known phone manufacturers who are using USB-C.

Same thing here. Official Apple usb-c works fine, third party ones do not, or work intermittently. I’m unable to use 5W charge overnight, because sometimes it will stop at 50-55%. Some cables won’t work at all (I’ve tried good quality ones, like samsung or xiaomi but no sign of life at all). Seems like the problem is with usb-c to usb-a cables.

Isn’t usb-c supposed to work with EVERY cable, like other phones do?

I am facing a similar issue, its been probably a month since I have bought iphone 15 but almost on the second week itself the type c charger stopped working, i flipped it up and down, plugged it to a different port also but the wire did not work. I ended up visiting the apple store and service centre where I got no definite answer because as soon as I was there the wire was working fine. Although there wasnt any technical person to check it at the service centre, the personnel there only checked it on a basic level where it was working fine. Today after 2 weeks again it stopped working again 😣 and later started again but it has lost its capability of charging fast. I am not sure if its a charging problem or a bug?
