Apple Watch Ultra battery draining while on charge after updating to OS 10.1

exactly the same with my Ultra 2 after the 10.1 update last night

Same issue after 10.1 update. My series 8 won’t charge beyond 15% We need a fix immediately!

I say that after 24+ hours of running the watches full tilt and burning them up internally, they owe replacements

Uninstall them from the iPhone. Delete the app itself. That’ll remove it from the watch

We have been trying to tell everyone in this discussion, just download the 10.2 pub1ic b3ta and your watch will be back to normal!! Completely fixed people!! Haha We keep saying it over and over.

Same with my ultra 1 - only 7 months old and can’t charge, bought new cable/charger and no difference. All fine until I upgraded the watch to OS 10.1 which turned it to junk

Went to the Genius Bar, all they would do is send it in to a depot.

of course, their SOP is to unlink the phone and watch, which purges the logs.

Apple certainly seems to have lost some of their magic.

Shocking drain on my series 7 since the update. Have gone from 100% charge to 5% in 3 hours.

Genius Bar not a lot of help. Said wait 48 hours for the update to finish “settling in”. Other than that wait for a software fix to be sent out. Nonsense! This has never happened before. Watch is now rendered useless….

Overnight update: Left the watch on the charger, in low power mode at 61%, 8 hours later I am now at 41%... on the charger. I can literally watch the battery drop while on the charger. Watch is warm.

I can't wait until they push out an update and my battery is trashed from these deep cycle drains, again, FIX THIS APPLE!

Remember, to do an update, the battery needs to be over 50%, if being on a charger and the device is still discharging, how is that ever going to happen?

Apple is going to need to do something a bit more than just an emergency fix.

I am also experiencing the same issues. I have the ultra 1 (iPhone 13 pro max), less than a year old and updated (not beta) to the new version. The battery drain is incredible. Less than 8 hours and I'm almost at 0. I am not experiencing overheating from the watch and it is charging, but does take most of the night. Went to the gym for one hour and lost 20% of charge. Apple needs to fix this.

I have the SE(2023). It's about a month old. I updated my Apple Watch iOS this morning. After the update, it immediately became buggy. It responded slowly. It drained the battery in less than 2 hours. It is taking a very long time to recharge. It "bricks" and does not respond to taps. I have restarted it twice. I have been on with customer support. They suggested I unpair it. It took about two minutes, and in that time the charge went from 35% to zero. Now they want me to take it in for repairs. Please just fix the bug and send out a patch, Apple!

With this battery drain and it getting hot, my watch is pretty much useless now. It doesn’t keep a charge long enough to use. Even in low battery mode it drains and then takes a very long time to charge. I’m worrying about the effect this is having to the life expectancy of the battery. I just want to be able to use my watch again.

So, is this how software is supposed to work? Like a new engine that needs to be “smoothed”? Really? Can anyone PLEASE explain this request to wait 24 hours? I have received the very same answer when I told them my M1 iPad 5th gen was outperformed by my iPad 3rd gen: “give it a day or so and it will adjust itself”. Well, I never knew the conclusion, as I sold the older one…

Me too! I even sent it in for repair after I tried everything. And they sent it back, saying they couldn't replicate the issue, even though they said other users were experiencing the same issue. 🤦‍♀️
