iPhone 15 Screen Scratching Easily?

I've had my new iPhone since launch date and only just noticed a tiny scratch in the top right of the screen. It's not minor as I can feel it by running my nail along the screen and just very confused where it's come from. I always have the phone by itself in my pocket and haven't dropped it or anything similar at all.

Compare that to my previous iPhone 12 Pro Max which I never had a screen protector on and it's been dropped a handful of times with not a single scratch on the screen.

I don't have a screen protector atm so technically my fault, but I'm struggling to understand what could have scratched it so easily.

Ive had mine since launch, I also have had every iPhone ever, never wore a case or screen protector, I dropped those hundreds of times and never got scratches. My iPhone 15 Pro Max has more scratches on it in 1 month with 0 drops than any phone ive ever had in my life, my entire screen is deep scratches. it is terrible.

Noticed the exact same thing.

I've had 6, 6S, 6S Plus, 8, XS, now 15 Pro Max.

NONE of them had screen protector.. I felt secure by the quality of the gorilla glass..

This new 15PM has never had metal or hard touches ever.. I haven't even dropped it once and my last phones have been dropped many many times and had keys in they have never had a scratch!

I have had iPhones and iPads as a matter of fact I was in Cupertino when iPad came out and met Steve jobs and Sir Jonathan gives in car park at Cupertino have photo to prove . I love love Apple products and this is the first time I can’t believe the scratches on screen of my new iPhone 15. I am 70 years old just got iPhone unboxed been no where. Treated phone with care as you would then saw all these thread scratches over screen. Must admit I just about cracked up myself . Now I am wondering if this will come to light. Who knows. Never never have any of my iPhones or iPads ever shown scratches. What to do now - do we just accept it.

I have had many iPhones over the years, last one being a 12 mini, never used a screen protector. Always have a case that seems to be enough and this screen on the 15 seems to scratch without any clear reason. The phone is either in my pocket or laying on my desk/table, screen up. Never had this issue before. Seems like a defect

As has been mentioned in this thread, iPhone 12, 13, 14 and 15 use the same glass. It's amazing you had a 12 without a screen protector and never got a scratch on it. Remarkable, actually.

From the moment iPhone 12 was released this forum had loads of threads on how easy it was to scratch the glass of iPhone 12. Same with iPhone 13, then 14 and now 15. Feel free to use the search bar at the top of this page and type iPhone 12 screen scratches, which will pull up loads of posts.

I'm a former Android user who recently purchased the iphone 15 plus. I remarked to my wife how easily the screen scratched compared to my previous Android phones. It's quite disappointing - i've had it about two months, and there are so many tiny scratches that reflect in the light and distract me. I can't wait to get rid of this device and go back to the Samsung Galaxy line of phones.

I’m on my second 15 pro. The first one fell 2ft from my pocket onto a carpeted floor and shattered the screen after a few weeks. The second has scratches all over the screen from normal, light daily use (never dropped, tossed in a bag, etc.). Never had such a poor quality device from Apple. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with this phone.

I got the same issue, i got iphone15 I just use it for 3 days while waiting screen protector film from online shopping, I keep it in my pocket and found that there is lot on tiny scratch on screen. My own cheap android phone never have this tiny screen like this after use for a year but iphone15 did, im so shock why this good quality phone have very very weak on screen protection.

iPhone 15 series scratching too easily.

Recently upgraded from an iPhone X to an iPhone 15 plus, I dropped my iPhone X countless times without a case countless times from fair heights and there were no scratches; within weeks my 15 plus is covered in minor scratches. There is a stark difference in durability in comparison to the older models.

Unless there's a breakthrough in materials science or physics, it won't be "fixed" in future models.

Every iPhone since at least the iPhone X has had more or less the same scratch resistance.

Read the article at the link I posted earlier and you'll see why - you can only have one, scratch resistance or resistance to shattering.

Since most people would rather apply a $25 screen protector than pay $300 or more to replace a shattered screen, and a screen protector can't stop shattering, you can see which is more advantageous for the average consumer.

Exact the same, bad experience with 15Pro Max. I have been using 5 iphones and many Androids in the past without the screen protection. for 1-2 year normal daily use with sometime dropped I never got big scracth.

but with 15 pro max, just 1 day carry in the pocket together with eyeglasses and got deep scratch (can feel with finger nail) a 10 mm long !! so surprise such a weak surface for 1000USD price!! so disappoiting.

Wow! So I’m not crazy! My Apple Watch SE and my new 15 Pro Max have developed multiple scratches within weeks of purchase. I have no clue what’s causing them but I’ve only had it for a little over a month. I just traded my 11 Pro with very few. This is insane. I guess I’ll have to get a screen protector…which I’ve NEVER had on any of my iPhones in 10 years. 🙄 Do better, Apple. You can’t spend millions building a loyal following and then be surprised when they notice deterioration in quality.
