It seems that since updating to iOS 17.1.1 my iPhone 12 Pro keeps asking for my outlook.com email password. I have deleted and recreated the account and rebooted my iPhone but the issue continues. I also deleted the account and re-recreated it as an exchange account (still using the outlook.com address). No help. Any help is appreciated. This is also happening on my iPad running ipados 17.1.1.

After reading the link about basic authentication I found a solution. I removed the account and setup 2 factor authentication for my email account (office 365). Then login using outlook account type NOT MS Exchange account and use MS authenticator app to setup the account on my iphone. Per the apple article basic authentication is being removed for security reasons and rightfully so. This will continue to get worse as apple does not intend to apply a fix for basic authentication but instead make it unsupported.

Yesterdway i deleted outlook on my phone then reinstalled outlook.com as people suggested. I have had zero problems. It could be that Apple finally fixed it too.
Finally resolved. Cleared out manual mail config which was temporarily working.
Re-registered with outlook.com and it is working reliably again. Never saw any checkbox for eula or agreement.

Same. Installed 17.1.1 and the requests started. The password is correct as I just hit cancel and my mail updates.
I created an new app password and used it. No change.
As this started with 17.1.1 I have a hard time believing this is an MS issue.

Thank you for starting this thread. I have had the same problem on my iPhone for more than one iOS update. My experience is that Microsoft office 365 constantly asks for re-authentication for adding apps on outlook on the Mac, as well as re-adding accounts and authentication on iPhone devices. While, this might be an Apple problem, hypothesis is that this started with a release from Microsoft on office 365 within the last six months.
Try and delete any connections between your phone and outlook then uninstall outlook then it should work

I had to download the mail app. Then go into settings click on mail tab then click on exchange. Then sign in.

this started to happen after upgrade to 17.1.1 as well.
I use Microsoft Authenticator and even as I can workaround it, makes me kind of angry Apple doesn’t test properly their releases.
They also break the Mickey watch face, and today was finally fixed with another upgrade
and the really annoying thing was that when I deleted and added my MS mail account back in, I have authenticator 2FA on my mail account so I had to leave settings to get the code from authenticator app. And when I went back to Settings, the screen had jumped from the “enter your code” screen to the “upgrade your ios” screen. I could not enter my authenticator code until I updated ios. And my mail and my husband’s MS mail are still both messed up.
Hi! It keeps happening to me too now for about a week and I am on the latest 16 version, I won't upgrade to 17 until the all the bugs are fixed and other problems. I also deleted the account and added it back with not luck.
