I’ve verified that Text Message Forwarding and Send as SMS are turned on, tried turning on and off Airplane mode as suggested and powered on/off my iPhone and iPad. This isn’t a carrier issue, it began immediately after this i0s update. Not the first time this has happened with an update, so need a good solution, and perhaps more thorough testing before releasing updates, especially with recurring problems.

OK my problem was solved by Verizon. Turns out the update through the provisioning out of sink from the phone provider. All they had to do was connect me with level two support, they synchronized my provisioning, and Presto it was fixed.
So if you did the update and can’t call like 1/2 the people or text them you might notice you have 2 phone lines personal and business shut off personal by going to settings then cellular under SIMs leave Business on shut off Personal and there you have it problem solved!

I disabled the "Travel" line in my cellular data and it started sending to Android again. Hope i don't have to travel soon. Wish I still had my old flip phone from 1995. It worked every time. :P

Same problem and solution with my iPhone 13. Verizon also had to enable messaging on my line??
This worked for me! Settings>Messages>toggle on Send as SMS (if another phone does not have iMessage).
iMessage (Blue) -
SMS/MMS (Green) -
It will turn from Blue to Green if you have enabled "Send as SMS" and whenever your iPhone is not connected to the internet it is sent as SMS (green) to all iPhone users.
You may not have an SMS plan enabled by your carrier for the SIM that you use on your device. Apple Inc does not provide SMS services.
"Send as SMS" when enabled and when your device is not connected to the internet the iMessage will be sent automatically as an SMS assuming you have an SMS plan enabled by your carrier.

Thank you and yes, I understand all of this as I’ve researched and dealt with the same issue in the past immediately following an i0s update. I verified that all my setting are correct, have turned them on/off, rebooted and done everything else suggested. Everything worked perfectly prior to the update and failed immediately afterwards. I see that others in the community have posted the same issue. Very frustrating and disrupting for communicating.
Same issue. I went through my carrier and did all of their possible fixes and the problem still persists. I’m currently backing up my phone in order to run a factory reset. PITA to say the very least. I hope it’s a security bug fix.
Same thing. At first I thought I wasn’t getting group texts, then realized my wife’s android wasn’t sending to me nor I to her.
tested a few others and none worked but all iPhones were able to send and receive. Checked all settings. Started immediately after the update.

I’m unable to send an iMessage to some iPhone contacts after upgrading to ios17.1.1 (some contacts are on ios17 some aren’t.. no logic to this!). My other iPhone is on ios16 and I can iMessage all my iPhone contacts. The ios17 seems to discriminate who will get an iMessage and who gets an SMS!! What goes with this dreadful upgrade?? Have Apple found a final solution to this problem yet. Btw I’ve tried every ‘solution’ offered so far (23 nov 23) but no luck. Can anyone help? Thanks
the new 17.1.1 won’t let me send blue messages off my phone! I have wifi I have iMessages turned on but I can only send green messages and I don’t receive any messages that are blue sent from someone we all have iPhones they haven’t updated and can send the blue messages now yeh update won’t let me send the blue messages or receive them !
I have the same issue. Talked to senior apple support. Indicated to me i was crazy that that had never worked! Very frustrated. Can’t talk to group chats that contain android users or individual android users. Irks me they won’t admit their update broke it. I hope some one finds a fix for the rest of us.
I'm seeing failures to send to groups which have members that are on Android not only from my iPhone, but from MacOS message app. We met today in person and I’m not the only one with this problem. We did some tests and isolated to it being an issue that only affected groups or individuals with Android phones. We suspect it is a backend problem due to the fact that the failures were seen not only when sending from iPhones but from Mac.
