After update, Apple Pay says my card is expiring, but it is not
Why did the new update make Apple think my Apple Pay acct think my card is expired ? It won’t expire for two years, and now I can’t use Apple Pay for anything.
iPhone 7, iOS 14

The problem is Apple Pay/Wallet lost the last 2-digits of our expiration dates. It’s only reading the “20xx” and lost the last 2-digits.
Unfortunately this iOS will not let you edit the card info, EVEN if your card number has not changed (like if you got the new one in mail with simply a new exp date!!!).
SOOOOO, you have to DELETE the card then add it back in using the “MM/YYYY” format and it then works!
Found a solution that worked for me. Go to Settings -> Apple ID -> Sign out at bottom of screen -> once complete sign in again.
Then under Settings -> payment and shipping re-add credit card. For expiry date use full year (I.e. 09/2025 not 09/25)
Finally under Settings -> wallet and Apple Pay -> re-point to credit card just added
That’s become a common issue over the last 10 days. The work around is to add another payment method using a four digit expiration date. Remove the problematic card. Restart iPhone. Add problematic card to account using four digit expiration date. Secondary payment method may be removed if desired.

I FIXED IT. Go under you ‘App Store’-> account -> personal recommendations - account settings -> manage payments.
I deleted the card I had and re-added it. Everything works again.
Fixed it by added the full year : example 2025 not 25

I ended up removing the card and adding it again and then it was fine. Still no idea why it’s happening, but at least I was able to get it to work.
Make sure when filling out the expiration date that you’re doing the whole year. I kept just doing 27 instead of 2027 and it wouldn’t work. Once I plugged in the whole year, it worked! Hope this helps.
I was having the same issue, I couldn’t delete my current card like mention above since it kept saying I had an active subscription. I had to contact support. Here is what I had to do.
go to settings
click on your name
shipping and address
add a different card 1st
then delete the original card
then go back and add the original card and then delete the different card you don’t want.
This solved my issue, I hope it does for you.
Hi, I encountered the same problem. Had to add another payment method and make it the default method for my Apple Music. Then I removed the card they claimed was expiring and re-added it back.
Afterwards, you can choose to delete the alternative payment method that you added.
Issue should be resolved, hope it helped! Let me know if it works!
This just happened to me I had to add another card (because it wont let me delete it with active subscriptions) in my settings > payment and shipping then I deleted my other card and re-added it and removed the other card. I swear its because apple only used to ask for 2 digit year and now thy are asking for 4 digit year.
Go to settings; Apple ID, media and purchases, then payment and shipping. Remove your card and re-add. It worked for me. I then linked the card from there.
Got the same email that my card had expired - even though it doesn't until the end of the year. Couldn't remove it as it was my only method of payment, so added Paypal, then deleted visa and added it back in again. Looks like it is all working again. Reset my Apple Pay to Visa and made sure it was still my default. Thanks for starting this thread.
This is also what I did to fix. It looks like after the update you have to type a 4 digit year instead of the two digit year previously and they didnt allow it to flow over to cards already on file.
Just found out I have the same problem and found a fix. Said my card is expired but is good for another couple years and wouldn’t let me remove and re add it so I added my Apple Pay card removed my debit card then readded the debit and removed the Apple Card.
