After update, Apple Pay says my card is expiring, but it is not
Why did the new update make Apple think my Apple Pay acct think my card is expired ? It won’t expire for two years, and now I can’t use Apple Pay for anything.
iPhone 7, iOS 14

Mine is doing the same thing. I can’t download any apps or many any in-app purchases because it says my card is going to expire. It doesn’t expire for a while. Very frustrating because I can’t remove the card to try and add it back in from my phone because of my active Apple Music subscription.
I’m getting the exact same thing. I used it earlier in the day with no problem now it says my card is going to expire.
Me too! I’ve tried deleting my card and reentering it twice…any idea what to do?
Delete card only works if you don’t have an outstanding payment due with Apple such as the monthly iCloud+ storage fee.
The same thing has been happening to me too even though my card expires two years from now..I really hope apple fixes this problem soon. This has been on going for like 3 days already
Hey just to make sure, did you remove your card from previous cards as well? I removed all of mine that I could and re added it and it worked.
Iam trying to rent a movie on Apple TV and it tells me my card is about to expire which is incorrect . I deleted that card anyway and added a new card ..it still tells me that the card is about to expire.
any ideas on how to fix this ?
Mine did this as soon as 2024 hit. Says all my cards are expired but they don’t for 3+ years. So annoying I have security camera subscriptions that are paid with Apple Pay and now none of my cameras will record because they are not paid for the month.
I got around it by adding my PayPal account to my wallet. I was able to use the same payment method through the PayPal account. I didn’t have to remove anything from my wallet either. Hope this helps.
That’s become a common issue over the last 10 days. The work around is to add another payment method using a four digit expiration date. Remove the problematic card. Restart iPhone. Add problematic card to account using four digit expiration date. Secondary payment method may be removed if desired.

Same, ONLY my subscriptions seem to be affected, other payments are working. Not a bank issue - seems to be an Apple issue.
Was put through to call centre in China, which was problematic because we don’t speak each other’s language.

I think something happened with the formatting for the card.
Settings > Apple ID > media & purchases > re-add or edit the card, when doing so use 4 digit format for the year (ex. 2024)
Yeah this works. Can’t believe Apple wouldn’t share this minor detail with their customers. Seems like a lot of people were frustrated and it was so simple to resolve.
It didn’t work for me either. It’s saying since the card is active on certain subscriptions it can’t be removed.
I did exactly the same steps except that it wont allow my cc removal due to an active subscription...HELP!
