Adobe Reader problems

Over the last month, whenever I create a PDF doc using Adobe Reader on my iMac (Monterey 12.7.2), the resulting document has a grey margin all round, with the orginal document accordingly reduced in scale.

I’ve exhausted all avenues with Adobe who suggest it’s a problem with the macOS interface, for Apple to remedy. Any suggestions?

I have Acrobat Reader v2023.008.20458 and on its File menu is Create PDF. When I click that menu item, the next item to appear is this dialog:

And when I click that blue lozenge, a File chooser appears and I can select a random Word .docx document from my Desktop resulting in this dialog:

When I click Convert to PDF, I am taken to an Adobe website that automatically logs me in, greets me by name, and shows the following:

and eventually you are taken to another web page where you can click convert and be greeted with a pay wall:

where you have your choice of subscriptiong or prepay and note the Acrobat PDF pack which is not the full blown Acrobat but the ability to upload and convert Microsoftg documents, images, or perform PDF merges.

The only way that Adobe Acrobat Reader can create a PDF is if you have an optional paid account with Adobe that enables that feature in Reader. I recommend that you stay current with Acrobat Reader, via its Help menu : Check for Updates…

Otherwise, Reader will allow you to choose the file to convert to PDF and after you sign into Adobe, it will present you wilth an online Acrobat Pro pay wall unless you are already subscribed.

All other issues with Adobe Acrobat Reader can be addressed with Adobe, or the Adobe Acrobat Reader forum.

there are programs that let you save as pdf like ms orrice and libre office and many others

but if people been able to use the free acrobat reader to do so then I think adobe would have a hard time charging for their other 2 versions that are not just readers

I can still create a PDF of about any document or jpeg on my MacBook Air with 12.7.2 under "Print," but what I can't seem to do now (as of a couple of weeks ago when Adobe required that I "update" this capacity that is intrinsic to the Mac, have never paid Adobe anything for) is store said PDF somewhere on the computer. Rather I can obtain a link from Adobe as they store it presumably in one of their data centers somewhere, or I can take a screenshot of it and store that. But either way, it will have a small but persistent, vertical tool bar on the image that offers signature, print text, and a few other options. Something has changed, that doesn't seem to be present on my wife's newer MacBook Air with a current OS. Just, FWIW. Thanks for any thoughts.
