Issues after updating to iOS 17.4.1

Hi Guys. After updating my iphone to the latest 17.4.1, i am facing several issues in the last 4-5 days,

  1. The contact poster of my contacts is not being displayed whenever i am making the call or receiving a call from them. It just shows a black background.
  2. The pedometer in iphone is not working properly. I go for a walk daily in the morning and the same distance before was shown around 4 Kms, now it is showing 2.5 or 3 Kms, and this issue is also consistent. There is something seriously wrong with the steps being counted.
  3. Battery drain has also increased by around 10-15% more than what it used to be. Even if my phone is sitting idle, it loses battery at a much faster rate than what was before.

I don't know if anyone else is facing these issues, but these issues are consistently there for me and are not resolved by restarting the phone (which i did several times).

My health and fitness apps aren’t displaying any data at all. They’re not tracking sleep, weight, runs, steps, move/stand goals, anything that I use daily. None of my Apple Watch data is syncing or even being recorded (to my knowledge) on my watch or phone. I pay for Apple fitness and I believe this to be unacceptable. The bare minimum features should work. I’ve tried rebooting my phone and watch, I’ve searched to be sure all my privacy settings are still in order and that nothing has changed, I’ve changed nothing except have my phone updated. This is really quite disappointing. I’m not sure if it’s related, but my iPad also lost 20 percent charge just sitting on standby in an afternoon. Before the update, 20 percent battery on standby on my iPad would probably last over a week. I checked my battery log and nothing was consuming power. Ridiculous.

My mum started to have a problem after this update. When she was calling, she did not know someone was calling her. On her phone, it did not do anything. I made a test. She was calling and When I called her - in 1,5s it made an occupational tone and the call was canceled by itself. My mum cannot walk, so she is calling 2-3 hours every day. So, it bothers you.

I contacted Apple yesterday, and when I was speaking to Mark, a thought came to my mind. What if I have this problem too, I just do not know about it, because I have calls very rarely. We tried it and turns out, it is doing the same on my different iPhone too. I spent 1,5 hours testing it with Mark because (of course) he was sure, "Everything on Apple side is ok. The problem is not Apple". You know what I mean...

Problems are our SIM cards/carrier (do you not know statistically, how it would be rare, that buy SIM card malfunctions at the same time? especially when my SIM is 6 months old?) We had 3 options to try which will tell us where is the problem. But He got confused after the 3th test, and I had to spend more time doing the test, to prove, that the problem was in the phones. (luckily I have 8y old iPhone 6S, where it was working normally for both SIMS :) )

Today he contacted me because he cannot work on this problem if I do not give him the Ticket (issue) number from the carrier. Guess, what the carrier told me when I contacted them with it? "Everything is ok on our side. There is no issue. You have to check your phone." Where is not a problem, there is no Ticket number :D

Meanwhile, I have found out where is the problem. The Update CHANGE by itself one of the settings. So, If anyone has a problem suddenly with calls, as I have described above, check your settings -> Phone -> Call waiting. Turn it on.

I updated to 17.4.1 6 days ago. My Imessages wouldn't come in then immediately dissapear. Several of my apps would crash. The phone would freeze and I would have to do hard resets. Now my phone froze and the apple logo keeps spinning for the past 8 hours. At the Apple Store now doing a full restore, hoping to solve it. I don't want to believe that Apple does this on purpose customers would need to buy new phones. I hope that is not the case. I do know there was this in the past:

Hi guys,

having heating and battery issue since I updated to 17.4.1. Battery gets really hot and gets drained even if I play YouTube for 5 min. Never happened before. Tried all the fixes but seems to be not working. Contacted apple and sent diagnostic but nothing seems wrong so I was asked to go to their store which I will be doing on The Weekend.

Waiting for apple to come up with a firmware fix soon. Being iPhone user for over 10 years, this is the worst firmware upgrade.

The software update that was recently pushed out 17.4.1 made my daughters perfectly working iPhone into a complete brick, I cant even restore it from a backup.

The phone now over heats, lightning port no longer works (keeps thinking its an accessory being connected), face recognition no longer useable, completely slow and reboots 20 time before it may even load and then goes back into a loop, battery drain in 3 hours from full charge not being used and all day to charge the thing for 12 hours to get to full charge again.

I am unable to reapply the update because of the lightning port being not operatable, a hard reset did not change a thing, I have also factory reset when I was able to access the phone for a short time and it still heats up and reboots endlessly with all the same issues

I was told that because it is out of warranty I would have to pay out of pocket for repairs, this was done by an update apple pushed out that wrecked a perfectly good working phone. Apple must need more money to make people pay for this kind of screw up.

I am having the same issues! My 14 pro max updated to 17.4.1 on Sunday night. Phone has not worked since. Issue is with data and only being able to use my phone on Wi-Fi. I can not make or receive calls. I have done all the troubleshooting with Apple and nothing has helped. Has anyone been able to figure out what to do besides buying a new phone? Apple has been ZERO help.

Ever since the update, I don't get my vm messages until the next day, incoming text will sometimes take an hour or two before I get it, ppl haven't been getting my text, my apps will open for a second then close, my phone will freeze and I can't make a call or text. The percentage of the battery drain has certainly increased. Although not a big deal, however GIF is no longer available on my text. I have to download an app.

I rebooted my phone but it did not fix anything. I checked with family and friends and they too are having issues since the update. I'm sure I will run into more issues but what I'm dealing with right now is frustrating enough.

Another issue along with rapid battery drainage is my phone will just randomly decide to restart or shut off. I was using my phone today with around 50% battery and then it decide to shut off, turned it back on and I had really low battery so I assume my phone just needed a charge. When I plugged it in my battery was back to around 50%, phone restarted again and then battery dropped back down to near 0. Never had many issues before this update but now I just keep getting more issues.
