I am using iPhone 13 and recently I have updated to iOS 18.0. Since that day, maps are showing blank on the car when I connect through the Apple CarPlay, and a message is displayed after a few minutes on the car screen stating the location information is not available. When I start the car immediately maps are turning to blank on the car display.

I just went into "Vocal Shortcuts" and turned it off and it freaking worked! I am connected to a 2018 Honda CRV, using an iPhone 16! You can actually turn it on and off and hear the change! SO EXCITING

I had same issues. Go ahead and update to 18.2 CarPlay will come back. Nothing to loose at this point. But it does work.
Try forgetting your phone from the vehicle then try to re-connect.
The only solution I’ve found to work 99% of the time is to restart the phone and then plug it into your car which is so stupid.
I made reset all setting on the iPhone and now all is ok

I was having the same issues. Just updated to iso 18.2. And it’s working again.
Same problem just updated to 18.2 and now it’s back up and working.
Solution.
Had same issue after ios 18 update. Followed recommendations. Phone-Car Play, removed and reconnected the car media. Went to settings and reset it. Everything works fine again. 🙋🏻♂️
Try the apple update 18.2. I had the same issues with 18.1. CarPlay would drop out restart over and over. Updated again to 18.2 All issues are gone and back to normal.
I have the same problem. iPhone 14 Pro. iOS 18. VW Discover Media. Connection was erratic and would only get a black screen. Tried rebooting phone whilst cable connected and this only sometimes worked. The only fix I have now found that works for me is to disconnect VPN, connect car play and then reconnect VPN. But have to do this every time. Not ideal but works.
I haven’t jumped back on from my original post I started however still using a wireless 2024 adapter ~ When I turned vocal Shortcuts off, everything seemed to work normal. And also deleting the phone repairing it to the head, etc. I did the whole shebang at the beginning..
I’m gonna try USB to C cable direct from the head unit.
The adapter is great. The only thing that stinks is there’s a lag. Maybe I’m just impatient who knows.. Hope this helps
Do a reboot to your phone and try.
Try turning off voice control! Seems to have worked for me
