Apple CarPlay Not Working in iOS 18.0

I am using iPhone 13 and recently I have updated to iOS 18.0. Since that day, maps are showing blank on the car when I connect through the Apple CarPlay, and a message is displayed after a few minutes on the car screen stating the location information is not available. When I start the car immediately maps are turning to blank on the car display.

What exactly is the issue you are experiencing with CarPlay? Since you haven't provided specific details about the problem, I recommend trying to reestablish a fresh connection, as this resolves the issue most of the time. Also, ensure that CarPlay is allowed under Content & Privacy Restrictions in your settings. Additionally, you can check out this resource that discusses CarPlay issues: 9 Ways to Fix Apple CarPlay Not Working. It might offer some solutions that apply to your situation. Hope this helps

i have my IPhone 15 updated with iOS 18.0.1 and the Apple CarPlay is not working in my Mazda car. Every time I start the car, the carplay doesn’t connet through bluetooth. If I delete the phone and connect it manually, it works but after I turn off the car and start it again, the same happens. The Carplay doesn’t work by bluetooth and I have issues with the wired connection as well.

I have an opposite issue than what people mentioned here. Apple CarPlay works with the USB cable but doesn’t work with Bluetooth (get a connection error message). I have IPhone 12pro and my car is a Toyota Highlander 24. It was working before updating to IOS 18. I tried all possible suggestions but with no luck. I can blame it on Apple.

mkrabill, the exact same thing happened to me using Apple Car Play with my Lexus after updating to iOS 18. My wife's phone still works normally in the Lexus using iOS 17. I ended up following a YouTube video and reverting back to iOS 17, and voila, my phone works with Apple Car Play in the Lexus once again. On the flip side I did not have a backup on my Mac/iTunes of my phone with iOS 17 so I lost all my data/settings etc. I'm working through that issue now as I do have a backup on my iCloud but is with iOS 18. Anyway, I hope I can get everything working normally again.

Never had any of the voice stuff enabled to begin with. Carplay connects, and works for the most part. It is, however, buggy. The steering wheel button to engage Siri doesn't work anymore. Certain popups, like reminder or alarms, at times, cannot be dismissed without using the phone. On iOS 17.x everything worked 100%, 18.01, not so much.

We had the same issue for my wife’s 2023 Audi Q5… this video helped. Please watch and apply the entire video and you’ll hopefully be up and running.

Same for me. In one of our cars, it worked for a while and then stopped. In the other car it won't work at all, Vocal shortcuts are not on nor is my VPN. The weird thing is that it looks connected in the car, but only plays through the phone speakers. It will not connect to Bluetooth. It looks like it might connect on the phone for a nanosecond and then immediately back to not connected. How can it look connected on the screen and not be connected to Bluetooth?? I have a road trip coming up and NEED music and maps!

Reset your network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset

Network Settings

Restart your iPhone and restart CarPlay

(If you have a virtual private network, turn it off)

Rename you iPhone: Settings>General>About>Name

Try to reconnect with your CarPlay

If that doesn’t work, got to iPhone Settings>Siri &

Search and enable Listen for “hey Siri

Then, go back to Settings>General>CarPlay and make sure

your car is listed

If your car is listed, remove it and try to re-pair

If that doesn’t work, go to your iPhone:  Settings>General>CarPlay>Forget this

car

If that doesn’t work, back up your phone to your computer or

the Cloud and do a factory reset.

Good luck!!!!

Still nothing from Apple. I've contacted them several times, up to 7 times in fact. I've been on the phone for hours with Apple Support to no avail. We have completed every troubleshooting option out there. Still waiting on Apple to correct the bugs. MADDENING. I wish I knew how to directly speak with a decision maker to get this fixed NOW. I purchased the wireless car play and that works ok for my maps but spotify is in and out constantly. I even purchased a new phone. I've seen on this chat stream customers who own 2023 and 2024 vehicles having trouble. So it really doesn't matter which car you have. This is 100% an APPLE PROBLEM.
