I am using iPhone 13 and recently I have updated to iOS 18.0. Since that day, maps are showing blank on the car when I connect through the Apple CarPlay, and a message is displayed after a few minutes on the car screen stating the location information is not available. When I start the car immediately maps are turning to blank on the car display.

I have a 2021 Ram that only goes cable Apple CarPlay. Recently upgraded to new iPhone 16 and coincidentally shortly after Apple CarPlay stopped working. Tried different cables, restarting and all the settings people suggested. What finally worked was toggling the projection manager on the truck off/on.
I’ve been through an extensive troubleshooting process with Apple. Nothing fixes this issue. It’s happening on the 2019 equinox for me. It’s problem seems most prevalent on 2019 and 2020 GM vehicles. CarPlay briefly connects AND THEN THE HEAD UNIT FREEZES GOES BLACK AND REBOOT, ESPECIALLY IF ANY MAP FUNCTION IS ON THE SCREEN.
Chevy dealership is absolutely no help. I think we are all kind of screwed until Apple figures this out if ever.
Check your cellular settings and make sure roaming in turned on.
Updated to 18.0.1 and it seem slightly better but not 100%
Did you try turning off "Vocal Shortcuts" in Accessibility?

Go into Settings. On the search bar enter “Vocal Shortcuts”.
after connecting CarPlay, turn off your mobile data for a sec and turn it back on .. it might work

I bought me a wireless Apple CarPlay adapter. It works super well. I would recommend getting one to get back CarPlay to work.
Try restarting your audio in your car. It works for me!
After months of not connecting to CarPlay I made a complete reset of the phone settings and installed everything back. It connected to the car and works ok now
Update ****My connection to CarPlay came back today. I have not been able to connect since I changed from iPhone 11 to the 16. Today a message came up asking me to accept terms and conditions for using CarPlay appeared on my car screen (Cadillac) I agreed, it loaded and connected without issue.
I went through the same thing with Honda. It is so frustrating, I can empathize with you completely. I also noticed that every time my phone screen either wakes or goes to sleep, listening to music, the music chops and then comes back as well. Back to the CarPlay issue ~ I purchased a wireless adapter on Amazon for 50 bucks 2024 edition that was just recently released. I get about 75% of functionality however it is quirky. I will try and just turn off vocal shortcuts on my phone that somebody mentioned and try it tomorrow and see what happens. I’ll let you guys know.
2024 GMC Sierra & CarPlay - has generally worked fine. Would sometimes not connect, but reconnecting Bluetooth usually fixed the issue. Was working after 18.1.1 upgrade, until yesterday. Worked in the morning, no longer worked after that. Have disconnected/forgotten phone, restarted phone, reset network settings, and still nothing. When i connect the phone to the truck, I do get the "Do you want to Enable CarPlay..." message, and I select Enable. But the phone is not recognizing CarPlay as an option. In Bluetooth settings, CarPlay isn't showing, and under CarPlay, the vehicle isn't being recognized. Going to do an infotainment reset and see what happens. What an awful update.
I have the same problem… tried to connect another iPhone with iOS17 and worked perfectly fine .. Apple you need to fix iOS 18
