Camera roll disappeared after iOS 18.1 update on my iPhone 13 Pro Max

Just updated to IOS 18.1 and I believe I no longer have a camera roll?

This means I will now need to sell my iphone, apple watch, Ipad and so on. Can anyone recommend a good phone with a great camera that has a camera roll?

For me photos on my iphone is now a complete mess, Im not even gonna attempt to get my head around it, I have 56,000 photos on my phone and I use to know exactly where they all were, now i am without clue.

My recent days isnt in order, it starts a year ago and then moves on to today, yesterday etc.

I wasn't talking about "Recent Days. " I use the Library. It's at the very top of the screen. To the best of my knowledge, you can't move it. It doesn't actually say "Library" until you pull it all the way down, so it takes up the whole screen. When you pull it down, you'll also see the icons for sorting ascending or descending and also "Years" and "Months".

If you don't like "Recent Days," you can even turn that off. Go to the very bottom of the screen and tap on "Customize & Reorder." You can turn off things you don't want to see and rearrange the rest. But Library remains at the top.

Screen dumps, what i mean is when i use my phone to take a pic of my laptop screen (sort of screen dump i guess) to send over to a friend for him to see, im now stuck with a pic that i dont get an option to delete. I have to connect iphone to laptop, go into iphone on laptop, search for folder, search for photo and delete from there.

Are you taking the picture on your laptop and transferring it to the phone using a cable? That's the only time a photo becomes undeletable on an iPhone (and it's been that way for years). Anything you transfer directly from the computer to the iPhone can only be removed from the computer.

This is what i am doing, TAP ON PHOTOS ICON (to open app)

1) SCOLL MY FINGER DOWNWARDS UNTIL PHOTOS CHANGES TO LIBRARY

2) TAP ON CIRCLE WITH TWO ARROWS SHOWING OPTIONS

3) TICKED AS RECENTLY ADDED

4) SCROLL DOWN AND I BOUNCE AROUND FROM ONE YEAR TO ANOTHER THEN BACK AND SO ON.

NOTE: I started using caps to highlight but it all became CAPS and so looks like I am shouting, I am not, said whilst smiling, the cap thing was just a bad idea.

Caps explanation just seemed more fun but i guess its just best to stay on topic espesh as i'm the one needing help.

Fair enough. ;-)

"Sorted by Date Captured." has put everything into date order with the exception of some concert photos that pop up first in my library taken 2 months ago. Ill look at the folder on my pc to see if there is something there causing this.

Thank you for your persistence, appreciated.

I'm glad to hear it helped. It's definitely possible that the EXIF data on those photos has been changed somehow.

Same here, especially if you have pictures taken with other devices. In my case I sync my phone with pictures taken with a digital camera. Huge mess...

That’s funny. I sync pictures taken with a Nikon DSLR, first to my computer for backup, then with my iPhone via the computer Photo app and then to iCloud which syncs automatically to my iPhone and iPad. Trivially easy. I could go directly to the iPhone also, but I like the belt and suspenders approach of having an archival copy on my computer, that is backed up to Time Machine. And I also sync to Google Photos.

Some pictures are too important to lose in a disaster.
