Apple TV+ does not play content after age request on Mac

Same issue here, German user using Windows Apple TV App.

I opened my own thread initially, because I did not see a connection to the age rating until someone pointed it out.

Problem still exists. I think they fixed it for watching shows directly from the TV app, but if you download an age restricted show (16 or 18 years) and then try to play it nothing happens. Downloads fine, but you can only play episodes that are 12 or less.

It is hard to comprehend how a multi million user company makes that kind of mistake in the first place and then takes months to fix it.

Same for me (Germany) - 16+ content doesn't play on the app on my macbook pro m1, but it plays fine on all other devices.

As of June 2nd it works again (Germany macOS 15.5). No updates on my side occured, so it seems was a backend issue as another poster already said.

I'm having the same issue... watching with interest... so annoying. It's only happening on my MacBook Pro via the TV app. I can still watch the content in a browser, or on the Apple TV app on my android phone.

Also tested that it is only MA15+ tv shows that cannot play. Both on Apple TV+ and other channels like Paramount+

Weird. I just want to watch the latest episode of The Studio. I can very much recommend you all check out the show if you haven't already! (That is once the issue is resolved!) In the meantime, the score to the The Studio is on Apple Music and is also fantastic!

Same issue here in Germany. I thought I was crazy, thank god I found this thread. So freakin annoying, I can't even play Apple TV content in Safari because the App is opening automatically when I visit tv.apple.com. Great stuff.

Content does not play when choosing content with age verification. Account age is high enough, no content restrictions activated. German Account, problem appeared after updating to MacOS 15.4.1. Signing out, restarting and signing in again did not solve the issue.

Same here. I can't play any 16+ episode on Apple TV+ on my Mac. I have the latest OS update, restarted the Mac, logged out and in with my Apple TV+ Account. Nothing. Basically I can't use the service, even though I'm paying for it. Do something Apple!

same problem in France, after upgrading to 15.4.1 !! ... where is the testing by apple b4 pushing out updates?? so frustrating ! . . bet we dont get any form of compensation like a apple credit or a free month !...

I am glad I found this thread. I don't normally watch Apple TV via app on my Macbook Air, but it has been driving me nuts since I can stream from my iPhone and play on my iPhone and play on my iMac and via Apple TV Device. Sounds like Apple need to patch this!

Same issue here. I'm going to request a partial refund of my apple TV subscription. If we all do this, hopefully it will speed up the resolution. I was going crazy thinking that it was a setting on my mac. So much time wasted, but glad I've found this thread.

Still no solve and no reply to me following up my case number. The workaround through safari private browser did not work properly for me, content would pause every 45 -90 seconds. Ive cancelled my subscription.
