IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

My iPad 2 became unusable after upgrading to iOS 8. Closing an app (single tap on the home button) and app switching (double tap) took forever to the point it felt like the the system had frozen. Everything else seemed to be running in slow motion. It was torture.

I spent the weekend reverting to iOS 7 and then reinstalling apps and reconfiguring everything. Looks like I may have lost the use of some apps too unless I can figure out how to revert them to previous versions (1Password, Pages, and American Airlines).

But my iPad is functional again. Lesson learned!

My iPad3 severe lag was resolved. This not only helped in Safari but my entire iPad3 and all its applications (including Facebook) regained much smootheness.

Here's what i did.

1. Open a few webpages in Safari (i had 6 tabs openned)

2. Go to the last tab on the right & "pinch the page" with 2 fingers (the screen will reduce into 6 mini tabs).

3. Select any one of the mini tabs.

When Safari resumed normal size after Step 3, my iPad3's regained 80% of its original zappiness, like magic. All other apps can scroll smoother again.

I'm a happy iPad3 (iOS8) owner once more

It worked for me. May it work for you too.

***Now i wonder if i should risk upgrading to iOS 8.0.2, after regaining the smoothness. Will you?

You're both dead wrong about Jobs. Not only would he let something like this happen, he DID let something like this happen. When iOS 4 came out, I rushed to install it on my iPhone 3G. if you don't remember those days, iOS 4 turned my 3G into a brick. Jobs was the master of planned obsolescence. Apple bench tests bare devices to see how they will behave before including them on an update. They can't test every possible app configuration that you may have on your device.

Tthe he lesson I learned is that if I own a device that is at the very bottom of the compatibility list, I will wait to see what happens to others before I sacrifice my device. I'm typing this on an iPad 2 running iOS 7. I now know that my device is truly no longer supported. The same will happen to my mid-2012 MBP. It is bad business, in my opinion, to eliminate the opportunity for an end user not to downgrade their device. Microsoft learned this the hard way when Vista was released and millions of users downgraded back to XP.

SLower than a one logger turtle racing theu peanuet butter. Everything is slow. What is worse is that the battery life isway way lower. I di some testing, and just having the internet open, bettery lasted for about four hours. Had iheart radio open, and playing, lasted only 3 hours. When I wqs n IOS 6' battery lasted 10-12 hours With several apps open and video playsing.

HEyApple, what did you do to us??!

IIf you think android devices are better supported, good luck with that. If you're willing to step into the world of flashing cyanogenmod onto android tablets you'll stay cutting edge: otherwise the manufacturer *will* dead-end your shiny new android tablet within 18 months (often less). Apple should have dead-ended the iPad 2 at iOS 7.1.2: but you'd probably be upset about that as well.

B.S. There is not another tablet manufacturer out there resting on their laurels as much as Apple did with this update - they couldn't afford to.

Bottom line: Apple alienated a significant portion of their customer base, and just plain screwed the buyers of one of their best selling iPads. Then they twisted the knife by withdrawing the option to revert back to 7.

i've never understood the mindset of some people who think you can put the engine of a Corvette into a Ford Fusion. I avoided the Mac/Apple ecosystem because o thought the machines and devices were "toys" and not legitimate business tools. Once I bought my 3G, that opinion changed -- they are made of the best components on the market.

My iPad 2 running 7.1.2 works perfectly fine. Do I "want" capabilities such as hand off? You bet. So I'll get an iPad Air and either sell my 2 or give it to my 5th grade son. Apple devices are like many humans -- the mind fails long before the body.

I'm adding to the long list of users disappointed with the performance of an iPad2 after updating to iOS 8.

The two most annoying features of the new OS are Safari browsing speed and typing delays - so far. I use the iPad for business applications such as GoTo Meeting, but I have not tested performance with GoTo Meeting yet.

I checked my internet connection multiple times to see if there was a router or modem problem before turning to this support discussion.

I'm really questioning the purchase of a new iPhone after this botched "Update."

The iPad performance problem needs to be corrected soon.

My mother, who does't have a lot of money has her iPad 2 ruined by this upgrade. She's not a techie and when the upgrade was offered she thought she might need it for security reasons. It's so easy for people like you to take the blunt attitude that you do because you don't mind when perfectly good hardware is sidelined and you have the money to ditch a 3 year old machine for a new one. But not everyone does.

Apple should have said that the IPad 2 was not suitable for this upgrade and blocked it. My son's phone is an old Samsung running Android 2. Samsung did not make any upgrade to its OS after 2 because it was not up to running it. That is the logical and responsible thing to do.

For you, with the easy availability of money and tech know-how, these things don't matter. Ditch it and get a new one. But some people are not like you and they should not be left high and dry. In my case, I have a Samsung tablet on the way to replace my iPad and I can afford that but I am still annoyed that a perfectly good piece of kit is being binned. I may buy my mother a new tablet because I feel embarrassed that my buying advice has let her down but I'm not happy about it.

With the iPhone problem and this, I think Apple have let themselves and their customers down. I understand that you don't think so but I do think you should be able to see a different point of view. Alienating customers is never a good thing - there is competition out there, even if you think it is irrelevant and people should buy Apple no matter what.

Apple make fine products but after sales and goodwill do matter.
