IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

How many since iOS 8.1?

No one here will take much notice of 'statistics' unless they see the evidence, and even then, no one here can help with that issue. That is something you need to take to and argue over with Apple. Send your links, evidence, etc. to Apple feedback

Perhaps because this is a Troubleshooting Forum and half the posts here are either from the same few posters and many are just irrelevant, 50 pages is nothing. Some threads here on other issue have gone for 100 times that amount, but still not resolved anything.

Pete, I went through our ticketing system and the majority of the 317 tickets were made during the release of 8.0.2, that seems to the be biggest number, with 122 tickets specifically mentioning "8.0.2". There were 46 before that which just mention "iOS 8x" and no revision. The remainder have come after 8.1 was released and all mention that they were upgraded to 8.1. Out of 317 tickets, there were 410 RELOADS. 77 trips to the Apple store by our techs.

To give you a comparison - In all of 2014 to date, we only have 890 tickets that involved "iOS". These might be configuring a new iPad/iPhone for a client, or fixing a screen, or whatever a typical client needs.... 890 tickets in 11 months. Not that many, but in one month, we have had 317 related to JUST the iOS!

It's not generated much money, because at our business, we do not charge unless our client is 100% satisfied. Zero are satisfied. We have wasted a lot of man hours here.

BTW: Other people are taking note, TechnologyTell has a pretty good article that highlights some of this.

I have absolutely no fix for the lost documents, because in the 3 people I have encountered personally with this problem, there's simply no help. The data is GONE. It's not in the cloud, it's not on their computer. YEARS of data - just lost.

I have the SAME FIX for lost documents that I've had for over 30+ years ... and that is called BACKUPS!!

It's been said that there are only two kinds of computer users (and that pertains to iOS users, too) ... those who have lost data, and those who haven't lost it YET!

The first thing you do before you start keeping data on any device or computer is that you check and verify your backup procedures!! I can't overemphasize this enough!

Here are some Apple Support documents on backups and which things are saved and which are not. There are more ways than this ... though ... To take care of data to backup. Some can be as simple as e-mailing yourself files and maybe doing so to a couple of different e-mail accounts for redundancy.

Where does it say 1700? I see 800+ and many of them are the same people replying again and again. Many are suggestions on how to fix some peoples issues.

All I want to do is revert to iOS 7.

You have never been able to downgrade any iOS since the very first release.

I'm sure Apple has engineers who could knock that out in a day or two.

Tell them herehttps://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Like many people here I've been working with computers since the 1970's, and have been through countless upgrades, but I'm appalled to find that Apple -- who was once known for being better than this -- has created an upgrade for which there is no option to restore. Shame on you.

Again, iOS has NEVER been downgradable.

Does anyone from Apple read these comments? Where's the product manager?

No. We are just users as you are. Try the above link I gave you.

Unfortunately, all I'm accomplishing by posting here is letting of a little steam. It's obvious that nobody at Apple is listening. Great job, product team.

Again, they are listening at their Feedback site. Not here.

Dear Apple,

i understand that you like to sell us new iPads, but crippling older devices with software updates you can't roll back from is just low. And in the case that this wasn't intentional, it's still a very serious f-up. As a developer I have quite an assortment of tablets and phones, and i'm not really affected, but this makes me angry enough to use the little power i have and advice clients to switch to android.

Apple are not here. Contact them at feedback

After Reading all tha it seems that Apple does not want to keep iPad2 or 3 customers. They have managed to ruin a perfectly good machine. Having been a loyal customer ever since the MacSE it seems to be time to move on to Android machines. they cost 1/2 as much and it seems that the manufacturers do not willfully and wantonly destroy their customers property.

What Aple has done to iPhone4 and iPad2/3 customers feels like theft. If a stranger did that to one's property it is likely that person would be sued. If Apple does that to us customers we act like friendly sheep and throw mor money at them ... Are we all that hooked?

Millions upon million of users have no issue. Every device in our studios are running perfectly well. If you don't care to look for or follow troubleshooting instructions, then there is nothing we can do here for you. Tell Apple here feedback or take it in for servicing.

Follow this procedure for a Troubleshooting Methodology ... basically reset to factory default condition -BUT- be sure to do the following methodically and also to follow the part with Apple Support!

First you want to make sure you have several backups of your data and done with a couple of "different" sources. Be sure to understand what data is backed up and what is NOT on iCloud Backup and iTunes Backup. Use a variety of methods for backup ... you might check into Dropbox, in addition to your Apple options.

Then turn off your desktop anti-virus software when using iTunes for this reset to factory default. After you do that reset, then leave your iPad in its factory default state and see how it operates then. If you encounter any problems in that factory default state, then take it to Apple Support, and let them know that you have just reset it to that state with iTunes and have not put any of your data back on and it is operating in this fashion (whatever the problem is) in that pristine state. Make sure you keep that trouble ticket number, because if it has to be escalated through Apple Support, you're going to find all communications tied in with that number. If the lower level help isn't able to help you, then escalate it to a higher level to examine the problem. Keep at it with that trouble ticket number until Apple Support arrives at a solution to that problem. Be methodical and keep at it.

On the other hand, if everything is okay with the factory default condition, then restore your backup. Some people have discovered that the problem resides in the apps or something in the restored backup. If that's the case, then it's going to be trying and difficult to find out which developer's app is causing you the problem. And ... it's true ... that a developer not following Apple's instructions and guidelines for his app can CAUSE YOU TROUBLE. This kind of thing does happen from developers, especially when a new system upgrade comes out, because some developers ignore what Apple tells them about changes coming, and what they do BREAKS SOMETHING.

This is a troubleshooting methodology that you are going through. See it through to the end.

The bottom line here is simply ... if you lost files, your "backup methodology" is DEFECTIVE!

You (and everyone else who "doesn't know" or understand) need to review your backup methodology, understand how it works, and then devise your new backup methodology. The bottom line here is that if you lose data, it's YOUR FAULT because of your defective backup methodology.

Start by FIRST reviewing two backup procedures from Apple, and then look into supplementary backup procedures (one, for example, being Dropbox) ...

Did you read my post? Do you see the topic? "IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade". I have asked for help regarding extreme slowness in an iPad2 after an iOS8 upgrade. I summarized what I have learned, and I have asked the other users in this community to add anything I'm missing.

Exactly where has this gone off the rails? Other than the threats regarding the TOS?

Perhaps you've had a long day and a beer or a toke would help you relax.

Nov 16, 2014 3:00 PM in response to Star Traveler

You are reading my post out of context. When I mention complaints about poor performance in iOS 8, I am specifically referring to performance on an iPad 2 after an upgrade of iOS 8. How in the **** is that a violation of the terms of service?

I think you need to step back and relax, and stop threatening us. We are trying to solve a problem DIRECTLY related to the "IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade" thread.

There are a lot of words in the Terms of Use, but quoting this from it ... is a determining factor in answer to that question. It says ... "your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer."

SO ... you have a user who posts the "technical support question" ... then ... you have a user who posts the "technical support answer".

If a user does not receive a "technical support answer" there is no more use for this forum ... but there is a use for APPLE SUPPORT ...

Ipad2 has major problems with iOS 8

iPad 2 and iOS 8.0.2 Problems

I've got three others that I specifically remember off the top of my head. I'll hunt them down tomorrow.

All the others are ones that have replied back to me in various threads and thanked me, but those are scattered all over the place and I never tracked them. Those others number around 100. So, I've personally gotten results back from at least 100 users.
