Is there any way to fix your iPhone 6 after setting the date and time to January 1, 1970?

I discovered this gap and has reached out to Apple and I did not find me any solution. And he wrote about history titled Beware of the iPhone in 1970. SOLUTION: I made the same stupid mistake because I was bored lol I never do stuff like that because I usually know better. Anyways, I just went to Apple and they replaced the phone for free (I also have a warranty). The Apple workers were saying that most iPhones are completely ruined from this and just need replaced. I tried several steps from the know-it-alls on here and it didn't work. Just have it replaced.

Given that the steps some of the know-it-alls have posted here have resolved the issue for a number of people, they are worth trying before going through the hassle of getting an appointment at the Genius Bar.

only works for a few. Btw I was in and out in 10 minutes... Not much hastle there.

Unless the nearest Apple Store is an hour away and, because they have a full time job, the hours available to go to one are limited.

You should't have set the date to 1970 in the first place. ****** you will need to get a new device, if you have still warranty go try it at an Apple Store.

Right. I only have that and go to college. So hostile. I tried everything and it didn't work so I went to Apple. Case closed. I believe that everyone should try the stuff from the earlier posts, even though it didn't work for me. However, a quick trip to Apple fixed It. If nothing else works everyone can wait 2 weeks for their phone to completely die

Once you've opened the phone you no longer have a warranty.

If simple troubleshooting doesn't fix it taking it to an Apple store is a good answer. Apparently Apple stores are aware of the problem, and are able to respond to it quickly.

It is worth a try to self-fix it and if it works more power to you. i just wanted to provide some helpful insight that Apple is there to help and can fix it quickly

so let my iPhone die? then when its dead and shows that it is dead.. charge it back up from a wall connector?

The quick and easy solution to the 1970's bug is to have someone disconnect and reconnect the battery. This will reset the clock and your data is saved---restore is not necessary. This method always works, the restore-based methods have mixed results.
Any independent repair shop can do this for you---a 5 minute job. Many will do it for free if you are forthcoming about the situation.

Caveat: A trip to the independent repair shop may void your option for out of warranty replacement at Apple---i.e. you give Apple your phone and they sell you a refurbished one for $299, although I've never seen anyone actually get denied for OOW swap after independent repair.

The phone will not have to be replaced.

You can try fixing it yourself:

I set my iOS device to January 1, 1970...

If that fails, take it to Apple. They have been taking care of it for people. By taking it to Apple you avoid the possibility of further damage by unauthorized service.
