I read all the posts and did exactly what you did but it didn’t work for me. I turned off the Attention Aware Features; still, it only vibrates on incoming calls. So frustrating. :(

I went to Settings - Sounds & Haptics - and turned off LOCK SOUND - & the incoming calls ring loud until I answer it.

Thanks henry-mk, but my phone was on the end table and I, along with other people, were about 10 feet away from it and the screen was off. Nobody heard it ring.

i too had this problem so I took my phone into the apple shop, they replaced it straight away at the genius bar, it might be an idea to share this information with them so that they are aware that a simple change of the settings solves this problem. Full marks though to the guy who served me on the GB as they changed it without hesitation great customer service

It seems as soon as you pick up your phone the ringer volume drops. Set your ringer volume up in settings. Put you phone on a table and call it from another phone. The ringer is loud for as long as it sits on the table. Pick it up and the volume drops down. Same thing happens when the phone is in a pocket, in a carrier, in a purse. Loud ring until you handle the phone ... then the volume drops down. Your I-Phone X senses you have handled the phone. I discovered this by trial and error. Hope it works for you!
