iphone 6 randomly shutting down - black screen with spinning wheel

I also have this problem on my iphone 6!! Kicks me out of any app i'm in at the time, black screen with the circle thinking icon, phone hot and serious battery drain, my battery is 7% but it suddenly turn off. Apple please fix it ASAP

It seems to be caused by some health-related apps that send notifications at specific times of day. Some people have said it goes away when they delete Headspace or Calm, neither of which I have installed. But it has stopped for me when I disabled notifications for Oak

I reset my time back two days and that worked for a bit, but then I deleted both Headspace and Netflix and I've not had an issue since. People are reporting the issue disappearing after they delete one of these apps, I would assume many people wouldnt have Headspace but lots would have Netflix.

I reset the date and time to the Cupertino zone, and it didn't help.

Then i turned off notifications of the health app and all other apps that i can live without receiving notifications from 😝. That solved the problem for me 😉 Now i reset the date and time back to the correct setting, and it's still working fine.

This morning I have had the same problem. I changed the date back 10 days ago and setting (Date & Time- Set Automatically (turn off)) like LCM27 said. It seems work for me.

I think this a big issue for Apple to solve immediately.

Sounds like you need a new battery Make an appointment at Apple store.

Or go to Support.apple.com for posting details use SIMCARD in other phone if you have one Mine took 4 days.

my iphone 7 plus started shutting down every few minutes from today morning sydney time. screen will become black and there is a spinning wheel.

went to Apple store, and their only at-this-moment answer was to reset the date to pre December 2 date. That temporarily fixed the issued, but resetting date back has its own set of issues.

I found a twitter disc thread, that suggests to shut off all notifications (apparently can only be done each app by app). I tried that and it seems to have worked for now.

Waiting for Apple to release bug fix update.

Temp solve - in settings, general, date and time, turn off automatic set date and time, and turn back time to sometime in November. Will stop spinning wheel, but will not work with some other apps - such as apple pay.

As cleverly described by LCM27 (Melbourne) below (thanks), I applied the same fix and so far it seems to be successful. I changed my active date to Nov 20.

The clue for us was that both my wife's iPhone 6S, and my own iPhone SE, started exhibiting this problem shortly after midnight Dec 2.

Gonna try setting back to auto-time on Dec 3 and we'll see what happens. Or, wait for an Apple fix.

I had the same problem. It's a bug. Temporarily set your date and time back (to December 1 for example) and install the iOS 11.2 update. It should solve your problem. (It worked for me and other users.)

I’m having the same problem - phone screen goes black with spinning icon, shuts down in the middle of using my apps. Rebooting, shutting phone down to rest, I even tried deleting an app that seemed to have the most trouble (The Weather Channel app) and reinstalling but nothing work. APPLE SUPPORT - PLEASE HELP. Problem started 8 Dec, 9:00pm EST in USA.

Thank you! I changed the date back to 1 Dec, which allowed the IOS 11.2 update to go through and .... it worked!! So glad; I really wasn’t looking forward to buying a new iphone. I’m glad I checked this forum for a solution to a major problem. My question now is why aren’t  Geniuses providing answers???
