iPod touch battery indicator - not the usual issue

Hi,

My son's iPod touch is showing the wrong percentage, but not in the usual way I read about on the forums.

Suppose it's at 10% and you get the warning. I plug it in and within 5 minutes it will show 60% or something charged. He then takes it off charge and is then surprised that 15 minutes later it's showing low battery again.

Now if I leave it charging for a decent amount of time (few hours) it will show full battery and have a full battery.

Any idea why when charging it shows the battery to be far more charged than it actually is?

Thanks,

iPod touch, iOS 11.2.5

I can help you out with that and tell you why. At this time 02/16/2018 all ipod touch (atl east 6th generation) don't work properly out of the box battery indicator. I tried purchasing another one (3rd) with ios 11.1.2 instead of updating it to 11.2.5 and it has the same issue. "engineering aware of issue but no idea when fixed" was the response I got.
no clue when will be fixed.
