CarPlay not working after 11.2.6 update

Updated iOS to 11.2.6 and now my carplay is not working in my Kia Soul.

When I connect using the phone cable it says ipod connected. Doesn't see the phone, can't do anything!

Help. I don't know how to downgrade to 11.2.5. I have never had issue with any update until now.

iPhone SE, iOS 11.2.6

I deleted CarPlay off my phone and did a full reboot. I also unpaired the blue tooth from my car dash under the settings menu, and erased all information related to my car. Started the car again, and plugged the iPhone into the USB port. It recognized my Kia MOTORS (had to click accept) as well as - now it also says, HANDSFREE - something that wasn't on my previous iOS versions. The next day when I got in the car it didn't recognize the phone like it did before when the car starts up, so I checked the blue tooth and had to click something (sorry I should have written it down) to remember this phone. Now it works great. Also make sure you don't have a dud cable. One of the iphone cables I was using had a little black tick on one of the pins that goes into the phone - this is a blown cable and may not connect properly. Got a new cable and all work well.

Seems like for 11.2.6 on some phones, you need to delete all carplay information and then re-add the phone.

I had this problem with my iphX & Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Fixed it by connecting iph via usb, downloading a new voice, deactivating Siri, hard-rebooting the iph X (click up-vol, click down-vol, hold power button until slider appears on screen.

Slide to off. Turn iph back on, turn Siri on & bingo, back to working.

Some of those steps may not be needed, as I was just trying stuff.

Probably just a coincidence but I was able to get mine working by removing the Kia from the settings > General > CarPlay > Kia Motors. Then, with the phone plugged in and not recognized I pushed the UVO button on the radio and then had it run a vehicle diagnostics. When it finished, I selected something like “save data” or “send report” (sorry don’t remember exactly but it was the only other option besides exit). It gave an error that said the phone wasn’t connect but then the phone dinged and connected. It’s worked since (a few hours). Now, I’ve played with it before and have gotten it to work only for it to quit again later but....worth a try.

I made it working again!

This is how my Skoda reacted as it was broken:

Attached the iPhone to a known-good cable, the car was writing "reading USB1" and then nothing happened. Also clicking on "Phone => Carplay" did not do the trick.

This is what I have done to make it working in my Skoda:

I clicked on "Menu" and then used the right wheel of the entertainment system to start carplay.

So it seems something in the 11.2.6 Update "confused" the car-entertainment.

I hope this helps!

I always used to use the Australian voice for Siri but had switched to try the English voice. But 'she' couldn't core with the Kiwi twang so I went to switch Siri to the Australian voice. But to do so, I had to download and install 'the Australian voice' again, which I thought was of at the time. Because carplay uses Siri, I surmise that perhaps the OS upgrade doesn't fully flush the previous version of the Siri voice. I don't know, I'm just guessing but at least my carplay now works.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 8 and VW Jetta. I even took it to the dealership this morning, and my car has the latest software, the techs there tested with their phones, all other phones with same software worked except the iPhone 8 since this latest software release. I certainly hope an emergency fix is out soon.
