10.13.4 Broke BootCamp Bluetooth

Greetings!

This is super urgent! I need help! Fresh macOS 10.13.4 update most likely installed some new firmware because now I cannot connect to my keyboard or mouse in Windows 10! I tried re-pairing, reinstalling drivers, rebooting and resetting PRAM. Devices seem paired, but they never connect. They connect and disconnect every second to be precise.

I need Windows 10 working by Monday. Kindly give an advice, please.

Thank you.

ok - last update for now. I was rather surprised to find that after the 1803 update I was allowed to then uninstall KB4088776 again, the root of all these problems. After rebooting and re-pairing in macOS the mouse and keyboard are all working fine again. I have pause the updates for now until I have seen this problem fixed. Apple really should escalate this with MS though. Thanks.

If anyone fixed it or have any idea, I will appreciate it greatly since it is critical.

For now I have found a half-measure, but beware: you won't have scroll and functional keys. Only legacy peripherals support.

  1. Boot into Windows 10.
  2. Use USB-mouse.
  3. Got to Settings > Devices.
  4. Unpair mouse and keyboard.
  5. Go to Programs and Features.
  6. Uninstall Apple Wireless Mouse and Apple Keyboard drivers.
  7. Got to Device Manager.
  8. Locate Bluetooth > Apple Broadcom Built-In Bluetooth and open it.
  9. Uninstall it's driver with all binaries.
  10. Refresh devices.
  11. Device should appear as "Unknown device".
  12. Right click it and uninstall device.
  13. Refresh devices.
  14. Device should appear now as unrecognized "Bluetooth USB-Host Controller".
  15. Boot into macOS.
  16. Pair what's missing.
  17. Boot into Windows 10.
  18. You should now have stable mouse and keyboard with legacy support on Microsoft drivers.
  19. No scroll or function keys.

I know it's not helping, and I know it's not what you want to hear, but you 2 guys are the only ones in various previous threads on this topic that are still having the issue as far as I can see.

For everyone else - including me - the issue was fixed in the KB4093112 patch if you are on 1709 or the equivalent - I can't remember the number - if you are on 1803.

Really don't know what is going on. You guys absolutely sure you have installed KB4093112?

Okay - last time. I couldn't let it go - so I retried the install, and despite one reboot glitch at the start when I had a giant sad face emoji, it restarted and seems up-to-date this time. I had to turn the mouse off and on again - but it worked straight away this time. The difference this time was that I downloaded the 1803 ISO and ran the update from there, rather than from the web link. Not sure if that matters - but I'll keep an eye on it now. Phew...

Anyone else still having issues? I've noticed that Bluetooth IS WORKING, but it goes idle after 5-10 seconds of inactivity and will not wake back up UNLESS I go in Devices and Printers > Mouse > Services and refresh my Bluetooth services. At this point the mouse will resume connection. This works without pairing/repairing in windows or mac - I can pair my mouse in macOS, boot in to windows, and refresh Bluetooth services and mouse will work for as long as I want to actively use it without taking a 5s break.... All my drivers seem to be up to date.

Hey.

You’re right, there is no fix. Until either Apple and or/Microsoft update the current software versions we’re all effectively stuck where we are, which is rubbish. I’ve got an ISO of Windows 10 1709 that works and I’ve forced Windows to not auto update (same for HS & 10.13.4) and it’s all good.

It’s not ideal but it works, for now. If it ain’t broke...

I have this problem too, but I also have Parallels installed. I noticed that recently, just before the Magic Mouse 2 stopped working under Boot Camp, I also hit and error on the login screen before I had logged in. This related to some software called prl_cc.exe, which belongs to the Parallels Client Tools. I uninstalled this from Windows and it works now. But o course I can't use Windows properly from Parallels under macOS. I posted some info on this on the Parallels Forums too, so maybe the hit a snag with the latest Windows updates? Anyway - no one else has mentioned Parallels as yet, so I thought I'd bring it up, just in case.

Here's the URL for the other post I mentioned too: https://forum.parallels.com/threads/problem-with-boot-camp-windows-10-and-parall els-client-tools-v-13.344389/

Don’t take that for granted. For a lot of people, 1803 solved the issue. Both the Insider Preview build and the public release one have been absolutely trouble free for me, people I know and others on forums.

Unfortunately, there are people who still have the issue, and we seem to be no clearer why this affects some people and not others.

You may want to try 1803, and just roll back if it doesn’t work for you.
