can not sync photos with ios 11.3 and itunes 12.7.4

I am beginning to believe that. The apple tech that I am working with, however, has said that bad things can happen if one reverts. I broached the topic with him yesterday and he repeated that it was not approved by apple. It took me 40 minutes to backup and sync this morning. I have added 211 photos to see how long it will take to add them to my phone. It just ook 31 minutes. I now have 4079 photos back on my phone. I would like to get back to the 8000 that I usually have but......................................

After I did my method with ifunbox ( and downgrading as well to prevent it from happening again ) .. it took me about 10 or 15 minutes to sync the 27,000+ images I have..

30 minutes to sync 4,000 images seems extremely slow to me!

Warning: the last sync attempt locked up the iPad Mini 4 with a black screen and spinning wheel!

It finally rebooted after about 5 minutes.

It is seriously flaky but I'll try to finish the photo sync.

This work-around isn't going to work. The photos finished syncing but the iPad is unstable after the sync is done, like it's low on memory. There may be a memory leak from the photo sync process. Have to keep rebooting it.

Guess I'll have to turn off photo sync until Apple fixes this for good.

How does one know that the old itl file is, in fact, associated with the previous version of itunes? Or is that the way it always is? I backup daily and I am concerned that it could be associated with the current version.

I'm now on iTunes 12.7.3 and the sync went perfectly well with my iPad Pro 10.5 (iOS 11.3) the first time round. Got all my photos in order but subsequent syncs, it keeps failing - "sync session failed to finished". I've tried hard rebooting my iPad Pro multiple times, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes 12.7.3 as well but to no avail. Anyone else getting this as well? Or is there a solution to this?

So after 3 weeks, dealing hours on the phones with apple support. Trying countless techniques. Making a video of the problem of the sync to be sent to the engineers. Sending itunes data to engineers. Downgrade. Update to itunes 12.7.4.8, upgrade IOS 11.3.1. AND STILL THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *** APPLE IS DOING!!!!!!!

Begin to think its the beginning of the end of the Apple empire. Begin to think to sell my iphone and go to Samsung or Google... My patience have limit especially when you spend more than 1000$ for a iphone!!!

Sorry, I never mean to state that all users who regressed to iTunes 11.7.3 in order to sync their photos experienced problems in doing so. What I have read all over the Community, was that many did have problems when they reverted to using the older iTunes software! For all those for whom regressing worked for, kudos to you. But in my many years of providing PC user support, and the past 10yrs, everything Apple, I have learned the hard way that, generally, rolling back to any older versions of firmware or software OFTEN results in compounding old, and often generating new unforeseen, additional problems!!! (hence, my "toothpaste back into the tube" analogy).

In the end though, it remains up to Apple to help its users, and once and for all to FIX this new and irritating problem. And as for them actually ever doing this, well, my confidence is not high.

My iPhone 6S synchronized after about 6 hours.

I tested out the icloud photo option, after several days having trouble uploading photos I finally got it partially working, but this is not a good enough option to synchronizing folders.

I fear apple won't fix this issue. In that case I'm moving over to android.

Just wanted to confirm this before I downgrade to 12.7.3.46:

I just have to take the most recent .itl file in the \iTunes\Previous iTunes Librarie\ folder and move/rename it and after uninstalling and reinstalling the itunes I just rename the file to "iTunes Library.itl" and put i directly in the itunes folder?.

Okay, I tried the method a page or so ago about deleting the iPod Photo Cache and rebooting the iDevice, and it still gets about halfway through syncing 2500 pictures before the sync cancels. So, back to 12.7.3 for now.

What it looks like from what I am reading is that I can do this and still keep my current iTunes library, I don't have to roll back to an outdated 12.7.3 one. But I am not sure I am 100% solid on the actual safe process. Can someone summarize what to do so I can get this taken care of?

Great steps to follow here and a big improvement. However, I don't think we've yet found the ultimate solution to this problem. I did indeed follow these steps as indicated and tried to sync two folders: one large with about 800 photos and the other small with about 60. The sync appeared to go as it normally would and relatively quickly at about 15 minutes. However, I found that it only got about 300 of the photos. Tried again and got another 300 or so. The third and final sync got the rest.

In summary, this is much better than before but not quite like it should be.

Yeah, except the sync is failing after about half the pictures, and then if I try again, it just locks up, same as it ever did.

And I can't use my current library? God, I wonder how broken my 12.7.3 library is. I don't even know which one here IS my 12.7.3 library. I have one dated April 8 (that isn't it) and then the one before it is dated September 13. That's WAY too far to roll back.

I tired this and it didn’t work. I have been experiencing this problem for over a month now. I have even took my laptop to my local Apple Store to get help when this first started happening and they couldn’t even help. Apple needs to address this ASAP...

Just so you know, my Windows 10 updated to build 1803 on May 1, 2018 after my last sync on that date. Other than that nothing unusual to report except the very long sync time which will adversely affect my backup routine.

Can you tell me whether it is safe or not to stop the sync after the backup is written? I would much rather have the backup in a 5-10 minute period as opposed to the 3.5 hours! If so, how would I do this safely??

I am assuming (which can be dangerous) but why are the archive bits not used to tell iTunes that files are already present? Why so long to read???

Just so everyone knows, I have about 8240 photos on the 8 Plus which likely includes the camera roll.
