can not sync photos with ios 11.3 and itunes 12.7.4

I downloaded itunes 12.7.4 and ios 11.3 and now I can not sync my photos to my iphone X, Iphone 8 plus, Ipod Touch or Ipad Pro with my PC running Windows 10. It gets to Step 5 of 6 and just sits there frozen at "Reading Photo's from "Pictures" and will not finish the transfer of the photos to my devices and finish the sync. I did not have a problem until the new operating system was released. Anyone having this issue and is there a fix??

iPhone X, Windows 10

So until Apple fixes this, here is a workaround: Downgrade to iTunes 12.7.3! It definitely is an iTunes 12.7.4-issue. After downgrading to 12.7.3, everything is working again.

So you have to manually uninstall 12.7.4 and download 12.7.3 from Apple (just google for the version number, you'll find it).

Problem is that you have to go back to an auto-saved iTunes Library file from when you had 12.7.3 installed. So after installing but before starting 12.7.3 you have to first rename the current "iTunes Library.itl" file to something like "iTunes Library 12-7.4.itl" and then go to the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and take the presumably latest autosaved itl-file and move it one folder up and rename it to "iTunes Library.itl".

(Of course this means that you'll lose all changes you made to your iTunes library since updating to 12.7.4)

Hello all ... I’m getting nowhere either. I still can’t believe that this has been going on since the beginning of April.

I’ve always been a fan of the iPad since it’s introduction... now on my third. ...I’m not too sure if I’ll still be loyal after this fiasco. I, like everyone else, paid good money for this product.

My Apple advisor has assured me that it is being worked on but has absolutely no idea when they will have a fix... if at all.

Fingers crossed it’ll be soon.

It will probably be a bit.. they aren't very rapid in this kind of thing, this has been going on for a LONG LONG time.. for them just now to acknowledge it and start working on a fix? eh.. I am not getting my hopes up.. we've seen people who've said they talked to apple engineers who admit a problem and months would pass ..

The reality is Apple has new products coming out in a few months, they are more focused on that than a software glitch.. working out kinks in ios will come before itunes.. so if they issue a patch that fixes this bug before it's near end of year? would amaze me.. and this comes from a guy who has been on board since before the first iphone came out.. back when itunes even used to sync to certain third party mp3 players and not just the ipod.. which by the way, I still have my original, what is now called "ipod classic" .. hard drive still spins up, no errors.. hardly any scratches.. I should probably sell it 🙂 it's the original 80 gig model .. not the "classic" revamp 80 gigger.. the date is 2005 on the back

Anyway.. itunes has always been crap.. that's the point..

While working for the Salt Lake Winter Games, I had the latest PC and the latest Apple machine at my disposal, and was able to determine which one was better. Based on this first experience I never switched to Apple’s devices. Then, in 2013, I was given an iPad mini. Obviously it had not been tested as the camera was not working. Apple exchanged it. My son needed something of this kind and I gave it to him, not without expressing my opinion about that gadget. A year and a half ago, i bought a new iPad mini (128 GB) because I needed to store and show all my pictures on one small device. After 5 months, the home button stopped working, the replacement device had an annoying black spot on the screen, and it was replaced too. And since I received this third iPad, I have been battling with the syncing issue, both in December/January, and for the past 4 weeks, and wasted too much of my precious time. This experience speaks volumes of Apple’s competence and customer care. Apple, if you’re reading, your device is not doing the functions you promised and I bought the iPad for, I DEMAND A REFUND!

Here is message I received from my Apple Support person after following up on my ticket I opened when all these issues started happening:

I just got into the office and listened to your voicemail about the iTunes issue. I have yet to receive any updates regarding the issue with iTunes syncing photos. I assure you once I receive word about the fix for this issue I will update you on the steps to take.

What is the number we call? I have avoided calling because I would probably take it out on someone who is not responsible. I have been hoping the nightmare will end. It has been almost 2 months that my very expensive phone has not worked right. I just do not understand if they wanted to fix it, how can it take this long. All they got to do is undo whatever they did to mess it up. I just do not understand why Apple has not even posted something telling us when it will be fixed.
