Problems with voice during CarPlay calls since iOS 11.3

I too have the exact same issue after updating to iOS 11.3. It is not a problem with your head unit or factory integrated CarPlay as has been suggested in many other posts about this issue, it is iOS 11.3. This has been verified as an iOS 11.3 problem by plugging in multiple pre iOS 11.3 phones into the same car using the same lightning cable. No issues whatsoever with any of them. As the rollback window for 11.2.6 has now been closed you can do nothing to fix this problem unless you are willing to wait for a new iOS that addresses this issue. Contact Apple, you may get the same favourable result as I did with this issue (a new phone is in transit & I should be receiving it today or tomorrow) 🙂

Same issue here. Ever since upgrading to 11.3 and now 11.3.1, CarPlay on both my Tiguan and GTI doesn’t work anymore. Calls are distorted. Other people can’t hear me. For sure it’s a Apple issue because I used a friend’s phone on 11.2.6 and the reception is all clear. Calls over Bluetooth works fine. So I don’t even bother with CarPlay anymore and just use Bluetooth. Hope there’s a fix from Apple soon.

Congrats to user bossanova for being the first report that an update to iOS 11.4 Beta 3 (15F5061d) solved the problem. I can now confirm that this also works for me, using an iPhone 7 and a VW OEM head unit (2017 model year, Fender version).

installed 11.4 (beta 4) and my car play issues have gone away... if you don’t want to wait 2 weeks for the general public release that is.

Problem fixed,

I did an update with iOS 11.4 Beta on my iPhone 6 like Bossanova. My phone call audio problems within CarPlay and a KENWOOD DMX7704S are gone. I hope it stays fixed.

Kenwood DDX9904S was having same issue. Updated Kenwood software. Problem solved.

update **upgraded to IOS 11.4 beta and (fingers crossed )it appears to have cured it !!!

Same for me. With iOS 11.4 Final (15F79), CarPlay in my VW Golf works great again!

Please do the following to make sure that you downgrade and getting the best results:

- Restore Iphone (make sure you have a backup) and select the 11.2.6 version (option Key mac).

- Then restore your backup, and you should be good to go.

When using the option "Update", you will have still all the data and the problem is still there.

I have exactly the same problem on my Iphone 6S since i upgraded to IOS11.3 . I can make and receive voice calls via bluetooth perfectly. But when connected to USB my carplay plays my voice distorted. I have tried all the fixes. Its definately the new version IOS problem. I tested other iphones on older version IOS and these work 100%. Come on Apple get your act together.

Well, iOS 8.4 actually is pretty dated. Maybe you should join the Beta Program or install iOS 11.4, when it's officially released.

In my case it must have been a bug which is obviously fixed with iOS 11.4 Beta 3 (15F5061d). So far phone calls (dialed or received) work with 100% reliability. Even with a 3rd party cable ("Made for iPhone").

Reading the posts before, the solution is to install the iOS 11.4 beta but I prefer to wait the pubblic relese. I think the CarPlay firmware update isn't the solution but if you resolve it, write us.

I updated to 11.4 beta 3 and phone calls are working as in 11.2 😉 So I think Apple knows the solution and can fix it for non beta program users, too.

Just updated my iPhone 8 to 11.4 public beta and all seems to be working fine now.

Im using CarPlay on a Kenwood DMX7017DABS.

That sounds like you are using the wrong USB port, I get it when I use the secondary port, which radio do you have?
