Problems with voice during CarPlay calls since iOS 11.3

I'm on 11.4 (15F5079a) and the issue is still present on iPhone 7 128GB device and VW Jetta MK6 USA.

New 2019 Jetta Here, IOS 11.4.1.

Anyone I talk to on the phone through car play says I am muffled and scratchy. Switch to Bluetooth and it goes away.

Please fix.

UPDATE: I just did a firmware update to my head unit. No good still does not work. Went back to where I had this unit installed they tested with a iPhone 8 same issue. They did say they have had some complaints. I have emailed Kenwood about this and waiting for a reply. Also did the 11.3.1 software upgrade to iPhone 6s and no good. Apple is responsible for all of this. I am ready for an upgrade and thinking about getting an Android. This is not acceptable at all.

From reading all the replies it is apparently a software issue and you should offer a solution that you have tested with IOS 11.3 or IOS 11.3.1. I have emailed you and no reply.

My phone worked great with 11.26 but you forced an upgrade on us and now a lot of phones aren't working because the software broke them.

Same reply Kenwood gave me yet yesterday Apple Techs on Twitter asked if I had done a firmware update on Kenwood radio, apparently they don't read the forums anymore!

Android Auto works flawlessly was my reply 😁 why doesn't iPhone?

Sterling you are here to help I know—Burne before suggesting a bunch of steps you should specify if you are offering up a generic solution or pointing folks to a solution that you gave reason believe will solve the problem. I have the same problem as everyone else. Hope it gets a fix soon.

Honestly i got bored of getting the same reply every time there is an issue with the iphone. Restart you phone, change the cable etc. We are not that stupid. It is about time Apple provides solution to our problems. I spend 850 euros for an apple car play car stereo and after 11.3 update it does not work as it should be. Maybe iir is the last time i buy an iphone

First off, I will refuse to buy any Apple Products until this is resolved. In the midst of this, I contacted Apple Support and talked to them for an hour and a half. After going through the predictable motions, we went through a lot of diagnostics on my phone and had to send them analytics and code that were extracted through Itunes. They say they will call again this week. We'll see.

To all the people who want to switch to Android.

I switched to ios because Sony managed to completely destroy the Android Auto feature with an software upgrade. Although the bug was already known and solved by Google for half a year. Here at ios only the phone is not really usable, but at least the rest (podcasts, navigation, music) is still working correctly.

Connecting the smartphone to the car always causes pain. And you can only decide how much you want ...

Well thanks for posting this I was about to get an Iphone 8+ but if it is happening with it as well I guess I will wait for a fix and use my back up Android that works, I was on the phone with Apple support yesterday and they basically want to put a hold on my credit card to test my phone but I am out of warranty and not at liberty to do this, with all these complaints and the need to be safe while driving you'd think they'd add a little more effort to this and quit shoving iTunes Music down our throats

How do you update to iOS 11.4 Beta 3 (15F5061d)? The available version for the update on my iPhone 7 is IOS 11.3.1. Should update to 11.3.1? I don't want to create more unwanted issues after a further update.

Bad news spoke too soon. Upgraded to OS 11.4 Beta 3 (15F5061d) and guess what? Problem is still there. I confess I was afraid of that because some people have said that the trouble varies dependind on the number you are calling and I have experienced ut working after a reboot and then going to pieces again. Just enough wonkiness to think that whoever tried the beta with success might have just experienced a false positive. Oh well.

My iPhone 5s running the older OS 8.4 on a Kenwood 573 have the audio call problem. Today I tested an iPhone 6s on the same headunit running 11.3 and no problems at all.

Sooo, again is this problem really 11.3 ?? How come my 8.4 OS phone has the problem but an 11.3 phone doesn't? Perhaps those with success updating to 11.4 beta may have just wiped the bug clean but time will tell if it "manifests" again. Please keep posting results.

I can confirm the "feature" by connecting the iPhone with my MacBook. iPhone connected = phone call issues.

It could be an issue with the charging process!?!?

Same problems with connected CarPlay (Seat Leon) and origin Apple lightning cord.

Same problem here, tried to restore and all I could think of (even restoring the car) but no use.

Seat Ibiza 2017 Carplay with iPhone 6S 11.3.1. It works with an iPhone 6 on same iOS.

Edit: Works perfectly with Bluetooth.
