IOS 11.4.1 Terrible battery drain

I was on ios 11.3 and updated to iOS IOS 11.4.1 which shocked me with severe battery drain. I’d say iOS 11.3 served better battery consumption. Please, Apple, do something to iOS IOS 11.4.1 to prevent battery drain. My device is iPad mini 2 with retina display.

Same issue and hoping for a solution ASAP. 11.4 was completely normal, but since 11.4.1 pushed its way onto my iPhone 7, I can watch the battery drain before my eyes. This is a software issue not a battery issue, it’s so sad that Apple doesn’t take responsibility for this bad realease and instead try to get people to pay for a new battery like its our fault not theirs. I plan on upgrading in September, but for the 1st time since my iPhone 3g I’m considering Android. I hope they redeem themselves and change my mind.

I experienced the crazy battery drain as well but I figured out a solution that worked for me at least. Currently when I check my standby time and my usage time they are always the same so that means the phone is never really in standby. It is always in usage and my battery drains really fast. What I did to fix it was that I plug in my phone at night before bed and in the morning it is at 100% charge. I then unplug the phone and immediately turn it off and then back on. Once it turns back on I plug it back in for a few seconds so that the battery usage monitor registers that the battery is full. This way I can watch the standby and usage again. I watch my stats throughout the day and everything is back to normal. Give it a try.

Ditto. Battery dropping 1-2 percent a minute, with cell off, wifi off, BT off [While on the charger and showing green battery icon]. No background apps running. I rebooted the phone multiple times, still tanking incredibly fast.

Charging will not keep up with the battery drop rate. No background refresh turned on.

Battery App says battery rating is 90%. I replaced it 2 months ago.

Apple, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS POS IOS???????????????

Stop patting yourself on the back for company net worth and fix this crap!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only with Apple (I guess) you get to learn that your mobile battery can get defected just in minutes. One moment it is OK and right after updating to 11.4.1, it is being drained terribly i.e. 1min = 1%. I have iPhone 5s and it was running like a charm before I upgraded to 11.4.1. The mobile just gets shutdown and shows empty battery. When I plugin into charger, it gets switched on and shows same percentage of battery it was showing before shutting down. As said earlier, and battery drain is terrible. Tried to reset all settings/network settings but no use. 😟

I have experienced horrible battery drain since updating to 11.4.1 on iPhone 6. No matter what I've tried (except for turning OFF all cellular and WI-FI connectivity) my battery gets drained all the way down in a couple hours. With Cellular and/or Wi-FI ON there is constant activity shown in upper left indicator and on the W-Fi network page it seems like my iPhone is always searching networks (even after joining my normal networks). Also, the Hotspot "feature" (which I don't use) shows constant activity BUT I can NOT change the settings by pressing in Settings. It doesn't respond to touch.

I ignored many iOS updates for a long time and I never had issues with my iPhone performance. THIS is EXACTLY why. I finally do a full update and my phone is basically worthless as I travel for work.

OK, so on the Wifi page, whenever you go there, you will always see a spinning wheel. Even when you have a Wifi connection selected and you are connected through it, when you go to that page, it will immediately search for other eligible Wifi networks in the vicinity so it can list your options for choosing another one if you wish.

And not understanding the Hotspot issue? Are you indicating that when you go to Settings>Personal Hotspot, you can't turn it off?

When you go to Settings>Battery, what activity is using the largest percentage of battery?

Thanks. I have never noticed that the wheel continues to spin next to “Choose A Network” even after a network is selected and joined. I did have to remember to tick the “Auto Join” button since apparently networks were reset.

I am just looking at items showing continuous activity that may be causing the excelerated battery drain.

What is happening with Personal Hotspot (under Cellular Settings) is that there is a spinning wheel to the right and tapping to access further settings has no effect. It’s like it’s busy and I’m locked out of making changes as long as that wheel is spinning. It is not a feature I have used…ever. I did a phone power off and on recycle several times this morning and the Personal Hotspot wheel finally stopped spinning (although it has since started the spinning/lockout behavior. More importantly I no longer see a continuous spinning activity wheel in upper left next to my Cell and WI-FI status which seems to have stemmed the heavy drain.

Battery usage shows Messages and Wunderground (weather) the highest percentage with 26% and 21%, which seems normal for how I’ve used my phone in past 24 hours.

I have the same problem with my iPhone X (and iPad Pro 10.5) both...a ‘significant battery drainage‘ after installing iOS 11.4.1 this month. Both devices are fairly new. iPhone X is only about 3 months old but shows the battery health at 99% only! Now, battery barely lasts for an entire day...no other change made in the usage pattern or to my devices and apps. Apple must do something to address it soon.
