IOS 11.4.1 Terrible battery drain

I was on ios 11.3 and updated to iOS IOS 11.4.1 which shocked me with severe battery drain. I’d say iOS 11.3 served better battery consumption. Please, Apple, do something to iOS IOS 11.4.1 to prevent battery drain. My device is iPad mini 2 with retina display.

I had the same issue in iOS 11 for iPhone and iPad (iPad was worse). Calendar app was the culprit. Calendar on iPhone and iPad was consistenty 60%-90% of battery usage. What solved it for me was: removing (turning off) and adding back (turning back on) calendars for iCloud, outlook, gmail, yahoo (I have about 6 I sync with). I removed and then added back Icals that I subscribed to. Then turning all to Fetch except for iCloud - I kept that as Push. Then setting Fetch to automatic. Powered off and then back on. This worked in iOS 11 and 12. No more abnormal battery usage. I can’t say exactly which portion of that process solved the issue, but I’m back to normal now. Good luck.

While my iPhone works OK and still on 11.2.6. Against my wishes

the problematic iOS 11.4.1 has downloaded itself. And is posed to

install itself once iPhone SE (64GB sm display model) is charged.

An answer appears to be within a newer version, as of yet not openly

released to the public. I've enough 'offline troubles' in general; I don't

need another layer of hi-tech problems à la mode ~ Unless it's a treat.

Maybe I'll pop the SE in the microwave and top it with real ice cream?!😝

Same issue and hoping for a solution ASAP. 11.4 was completely normal, but since 11.4.1 pushed its way onto my iPhone 7, I can watch the battery drain before my eyes. This is a software issue not a battery issue, it’s so sad that Apple doesn’t take responsibility for this bad realease and instead try to get people to pay for a new battery like its our fault not theirs. I plan on upgrading in September, but for the 1st time since my iPhone 3g I’m considering Android. I hope they redeem themselves and change my mind.

I have experienced horrible battery drain since updating to 11.4.1 on iPhone 6. No matter what I've tried (except for turning OFF all cellular and WI-FI connectivity) my battery gets drained all the way down in a couple hours. With Cellular and/or Wi-FI ON there is constant activity shown in upper left indicator and on the W-Fi network page it seems like my iPhone is always searching networks (even after joining my normal networks). Also, the Hotspot "feature" (which I don't use) shows constant activity BUT I can NOT change the settings by pressing in Settings. It doesn't respond to touch.

I ignored many iOS updates for a long time and I never had issues with my iPhone performance. THIS is EXACTLY why. I finally do a full update and my phone is basically worthless as I travel for work.

Yes, as I stated pressing that Personal Hotspot setting selection area has no affect.

I do not have the option to follow Settings>Personal Hotspot as you suggested, I can only go Settings>Cellular>Personal Hotspot.

My pic shows you as far as I can get. The spinning wheel to the right seems to act like the Apple spinning beach ball and indicate the feature is "busy" and I can't proceed.

This seemed like a network related issue so I reset Network Settings first. No change except of course for losing all my saved Wi-Fi log-ins to join the various networks for all the different work locations I travel to. (In my history with iPhone this never seems to fix anything but just ends up being a PIA).

What ever happened to Carrier settings such as updating PRL? Did that go away in one of these updates? I was on Android many years ago and I left because all the updates were not consistent over the many devices and carriers. I always ran into carrier related software bugs after updates. This is starting to feel the same with Apple updates.

FYI, I have not seen a screen as you have shown with a Personal Hotspot On/Off button. I don't have the service and never set it up with my carrier Sprint. I experience the same as this (except this poster has Hotspot and can't access it whereas I don't have it and Don't want to access it so the continuous activity and "lock-out" is that much more annoying). : Unable to turn on HOTSPOT iPhone 6 S+

I have the same problem with my iPhone X (and iPad Pro 10.5) both...a ‘significant battery drainage‘ after installing iOS 11.4.1 this month. Both devices are fairly new. iPhone X is only about 3 months old but shows the battery health at 99% only! Now, battery barely lasts for an entire day...no other change made in the usage pattern or to my devices and apps. Apple must do something to address it soon.

Unfortunately I do as well. I just upgraded from iOS 9.3.5 to 11.4.1 only because the app Hiya which I needed desperately due to extreme spam calls every day would not work with the older iOS version. Now my music is screwed up with 14 microphone icons that can't be fixed, including one of my most favorite bands. Now I have this extreme battery drain as well. I tried to restore the older iOS but it gave me an error and would not work 😠. I am very, very angry at Apple right now!!!!! I have an iPhone 6. I am about ready to throw this phone out the window!

Just an update. I left the Personal Hotspot wheel spinning while my iPhone 6 was on charge. Eventually (I checked it hours later) the "busy" wheel stops spinning and I can go into the Hotspot setting. That leads to getting the notice attached below. As I knew, I never set up the hotspot service for use so I don't think it was actually attempting to connect to a hotspot during that time and was likely not a huge battery drain. Frequent texting or anything that keeps the screen active cause rapid battery drain. But still other times after closing most apps from connectivity and locking the screen Off, I pull my phone from my pocket to find it's inexplicably low on battery. User uploaded file

Same here . Updated to IOS 12.0 . Battery drain issue still exists . BTW - I see that 11.4.1 is the only signed IOS Firmware . Which means we cannot downgrade also . Cannot use my iphone with this issue . I am sure Apple was aware of this issue and they still went ahead releasing 12.0 . That annoys me . 11.4.1 was a mistake but 12.0 was not .

This is not ethical .
