spreediscount
is this a virus - how can I stop these amazing amazon discount offers from spreediscount.com? It looks like a phishing pop up to me and it pops up and removes my history so I can’t back out of it.

Check to see if Safari is syncing to iCloud.
1. go to settings
2. click on your name
3. click on iCloud
4. A list of apps using iCloud will show up. If Safari is checked, unclick it (turn it off).
5. Clear your browser history as described in previous posts
I’ve has this issue on my iPad for about a week on eBay I cleared the website history. It came back. I did a factory reset. It came back. I kept redoing this because it at least was a temporary fix.
This morning, while in Safari, I clicked on the ”layer” icon which shows all the tabs that are open. I noticed a list of sites below the tabs. I hadn’t seen this before. I looked closely and the only thing listed was the spree discount stuff. Above the list was a line. Above the line was a cloud icon, which made me wonder if it was being downloaded from an iCloud backup, which I thought I had turned off all uses of. Apparently not. Safari was set up to sync with iCloud, which apparently had a backup that was syncing to my iPad. I deleted the backup in the iCloud and turned off Safari using iCloud. Since I did that, it hasn’t come back.

First time on these forums, so I apologize if this is not the right place or possible solution for your problems, but it has temporarily fixed mine. I have not used my yahoo fantasy football for a while, and suddenly when I tried to log on and adjust my team I was redirected to a pop up for amazon amazing something and the web address showed spreediscount. I went crazy trying to remove it. Deleted browser history, but that only worked for a day or two. Then I realized I had just conducted a speed test and had downloaded speedtest app. I removed that app, and since have not had any problems. I will update if that changes.
I had the same issue and the name of the app is actually speedtest. I removed the app, cleared my browser history and it stopped. I tried just clearing the browser history first. Didn’t work. Saw one other post about speedtest so I tried that. Mine only happened in eBay when logged in and on my iPad. I called eBay and they knew nothing.
Blocking the website under General - Restrictions did NOT work for me. I had to download the SiteBlocker app and add both www.spreediscount.com and spreediscount.com to the restricted sites to block it. After that, it still did the redirect but showed “No Content” because it was blocked by a content blocker. I then installed the “Norton Adblock” app which stopped the redirect.
I have not had any problems with SpreeDiscount for about 5 days.
i removed the app speed test and cleared history in safari and it removed the popup
hope this helps
I removed speed test app and cleared safari history, closed all apps and restarted iPad. It seems to have fixed it. Although I’m not sure which speed test app it was? I’m new on here and someone else posted to remove speed test app already. I just want to say that it worked for me also.
I know it costs $1.99, but you might want to use AdBlock by FutureMind. I have had success in eliminating spreediscount from My eBay links and, though I never had it show up on Yahoo Finance, I can use Finance & see everything fine, and my portfolios are showing up 100% complete and unscathed. Plus, it’s top 10 ranked.
Found a solution!!
Warning: This will close all of your safari tabs
Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove all website data
Thanks, @Classy76. After writing my post, I downloaded AdBlock which, immediately did the trick. I appreciate your response and am optimistic that my wheel spinning days in **** are over 🙂 😁
Had the same issue with Yahoo, and while clearing the browser works for a little bit, the spam returns from Spreediscount. Not an ad ⚠ but downloaded AdBlocker and so far it has worked. Not sure why other pop-up blockers (eg Purity) didn’t do the job and I don’t like paying for an app to fix a Safari/Yahoo problem but if it continues to work it’s 2 bucks well spent.
Agreed, I too am finding that this only affecting my 12.9 2nd gen iPad Pro. I deleted an app (NOAA Radar) that was downloaded from the AppStore last week, this issue cropped up 3 days ago. When this app was deleted the problem seems to have disappeared, keeping my fingers crossed.
I just installed Norton AdBlock and had SiteBlocker already installed. Together they seem to be working. With SiteBlocker, you need to add SpreeDiscount.com and www.spreediscount.com to the block list.
That’s what Purify & 1Blocker we’re doing for me.... allowing the redirect then blocking the site. So, got rid of them, did a Google search for best ad blockers, and downloaded Crystal and AdBlocker. So far it’s been 24 hours and I no longer get the redirect when I used to get it constantly with eBay pages when I was signed in.
I just got off of the phone with apple and I too had the same issues with using the eBay site. I have Malwarebytes and that did not work in blocking the pop-up. What apple said to do and this is what I did is they said to go to....
Settings>..General>..Reset>..RESET NETWORK SETTINGS
thats what I just did with apple on the phone and with them viewing my iPad while i did this. So far this cleared the issue and I asked if the pop-up came back what should I do and the apple representive said to just reset the network settings. I wonder how this pop-up got through the eBay site and pass my ipad pop up blocker and the Malwarebytes pop up blocker. If you tried like me to “play” the game and spin the wheel(I know not too smart) after you “win” the Malwarebytes app does Block you from opening the page after that. At least it doesn’t let you open the next website.
I hope apple comes up with up with a permanent fix to this pop up!
I hope This helps others!
Resetting Network Settings, as another user reported here was Apple Support’s suggestion, did not help for me.
Either of these two solutions are working for me:
