Measure App not working in iPhone 6

If you don’t have an iPhone 6S or newer, the answer remains the same.

I wonder if this is an oversight on Apple’s part, taking away a function without offering the alternative, can understand some devices not having the Measurement App if the hardware is not capable/compatible, but if that is so the Compass App should have remained unchanged.

No, the SE is (mostly) the iPhone 6S in a smaller package.

If the “Update” didn't work you have only a full “Restore” left (that replaces the iOS and all data, as long as you don’t use a BackUp), but if it’s a ‘bug” you will require Apple to resolve and it might be useful for you to submit feedback or file a bug report

It’s hard to say where the issue actually lies at the moment until a few more start posting there results, not sure what else to suggest.

I have a iPhone 7 Plus, upgraded, and no Measurement App also. I wanted to access the Level function, from within the Compass App. It is not there now. Looked up some info on the subject. Seems they added the Level to the Measurement App, and apparently removed it from the Compass. Now what? If Apple is going to remove a function and transfer it to another app, it would be nice to actually include the app in the upgrade like they stated.

Removing the Level function from the Compass and then not being able to offer it on iphone 6 and lower via the Measure app, was probably the lamest thing that Apple could do. However, the Compass app provides some level (pun intended) of Level functionality.

I was able to get the Measure app somewhat to work on iPhone6, but can't reproduce it right now.

What did I do ?

There was no icon for the app anywhere. In Spotlight Search, it offered me to Open it in the App Store where it said "feature not available on this device". Fine.

Next I went to Settings / General / iPhone Storage, and found Measure listed. I offloaded the app, and suddenly had the app icon with the cloud symbol. I tapped the icon, and like with any other app, it went through "waiting", "loading" and "installing", except for that at the end, poof, the icon vanished. At some point then, I was able to see the app in Spotlight search, as installed app. When launched, I had a grey-white screen with two tabs, "Measure" and "Level". Tapped on "Level", and there I had the Level functionality back. I tried to kill the app (double tap on home button, and swipe up), but instead of a smaller image, the home screen just dimmed. I was able to repeat everything, from launching the app, to at least using Level. Next I restarted my phone, and in Spotlight Search, it now only offered me again to open the app in the app store. This time, offloading and reinstalling the app, didn't allow me again to use the app, but just opening it in the app store.

If your phone is saying that the app requires specific features not found on this device, you need to make absolutely sure you really have iPhone 7. Go to Settings > General > About and see what is says for Model.

Take that model number and google it. You'll see exactly what phone you actually have.

For example when I simply type my model in the google search bar, which is MT5Y2LL/A it immediately comes up as iPhone XS Max, which is exactly what model phone I own.

Sounds like the motion coprocessor is not working correctly. Which is why the apps that actually use it don't work correctly. The Level not moving, would seem to indicate this.

You may need to take the iPhone in to be checked out for a hardware issue.

I will have to disagree with the compatibility of the phones that are listed, my wife and daughter have the 6 plus and the measure app is on their phones and works with no issues at all but for some reason it is not on my and i can't download it from the app store and get the following message 'This app requires specific features not available on this device'. I have uninstalled it from their devices to see if they will get the same message that i get but they are able to reinstall them and use them with put any issue. They can share the link with me via airdrop and i can see the app in the store but can't download it , so i think there is an issue in the updates somewhere that is causing a hit and miss install on some devices .

Did you do a Spotlight search on your iPhone? It is built into iOS, should be there so maybe you're just not seeing it (I found it in the "Utilities" folder).

There is no fix for that. See page 1 of this thread.

You may need to restore your phone as something may have not copied over properly when you upgraded to iOS 12.

Likely because it's hard coded into iOS, but that doesn't mean it will work on your phone.

I have the exact same dilemma with the missing Measurement app on my iPhone 6 as well as my iPad Mini 3 after installing IOS 12. The App Store also blocks the app download with the same, "The app requires specific features not available on this device". I too am standing by for a 12.1 update that will resolve the problem.
