Gray boxes in iTunes store - Windows

When I launch iTunes under a particular user logon on a Windows PC, I see grey boxes in the store where the cover art would be. This does not occur on another user logon on that same PC. So ... I assume this is a user specific / profile issue. Any idea how to get the pictures to load under this user logon?

Windows, Windows 10

Hi okcameradude:

Thanks for posting that workaround. Changing those high DPI settings in my iTunes.exe properties fixed the problem and I can finally see album artwork displayed correctly in the iTunes Store.

Since I rock a 4096x2160 monitor, I run my Windows scaling at 150%. This workaround has worked for me since I started seeing this on May 1. Go to your iTunes.exe file, right click and select Properties. Select the Compatibility tab and the Change high DPI settings button. In the High DPI scaling override, check the box to Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: and choose either System or System (Enhanced).

Also reducing the Windows scaling to 100% has also worked for me to fix this issue, but it is simply too small for me to work with.

This step mentioned above from okcameradudue worked for me perfectly on Windows 10 64-bit on my Lenovo X1 Yoga 3rd Gen after selecting Properties on iTunes.exe "Select the Compatibility tab and the Change high DPI settings button. In the High DPI scaling override, check the box to Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: and choose either System or System (Enhanced)"

hm_n_mn, did you try going to settings and ease of access, make text bigger, drag the slider to the size you want and click apply, I did this and the album art work was showing ok and I had an update to iTunes after I did it and the album artwork was still showing ok. try what is typed below also

DISPLAY on monitor,, text, apps and other items is set higher than the recommended 100% so grey boxes appear on iTunes store if set to 125% and above

I am running iTunes on Windows 7. I tried the fix with the iTunes.exe and setting the DPI etc but nothing I changed under the file Properties changed the display. There was only the option: Disable display scaling on High DPI settings. I even tried to run it in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Nothing.

I ended up changing the display settings to 100% which is a bit too small for my liking but now I can see the artwork for the movies. I hope they fix this asap.

Specifically: Change display settings, Make text and other items larger or smaller, Smaller - 100% default

doing the DPI settings don't work for everyone's computer, go to settings, display and change the size of text apps and other items back to 100% recommended this will give you the album cover pictures on iTunes store, the text, albums will go back to normal size as well as on your PC, I don't know what web browser you are using but in Microsoft Edge there is 3 dots in the top right corner click on the 3 dots and you will see zoom you can increase the size of the text but it only does it for the browser, I tried all of the other suggestions but they didn't work, what I have suggested here has worked for me.

hope it works for you.

it's because you have the apps, text and other items in scale layout in settings/display over the recommended 100%, reducing it back to 100% recommended will get the album artwork back to normal but all the text, apps and other items will reduce back to normal. this is how I managed to get bigger text on my desktop PC, it doesn't make the apps bigger but it works for me OK.

are you using Windows 10 and the latest Microsoft Edge browser, in Windows settings ease of access "display" make text bigger drag the slider (hold mouse on the slider to show you the size of the text) to the size text you want then click on apply, in Microsoft Edge browser, click on the 3 dots (. . . ) in the top right corner,go to settings then go to appearance then on that page you will see zoom, go across to the right side of the page from zoom you will see the number will be 100% click on the down arrow beside the 100% and it will give you more % to increase/decrease from 25% to 400%, I'm using both Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge (mine is set at 110%) and doing this the albums on iTunes are not grey squares, but the downside of this, is that the text in iTunes doesn't increase and the apps on the computer don't increase in size

Hi LHealy0:

Did you try the 03-May-2019 workaround posted in this thread by okcameradude at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250342472?answerId=250648991022#250648991022 ? Changing those High DPI settings in my iTunes.exe properties fixed the problem and I can now see album artwork displayed correctly in the iTunes Store.

Here's an image of my current High DPI settings for the iTunes.exe file located in C:\Program Files\iTunes:

If you want your text to be back to 125% , if you are running Windows 10, I found this today 2/06/2019 on a Microsoft windows solution page and if you go to settings then ease of access where it says make text bigger drag the slider to 125% and then click on apply below it, a screen will come up saying please wait then all of the text in windows will be bigger, I had the above problem with grey album artwork in iTunes store did the scaling back to 100% and fixed the problem then the text went back to small for me then I tried what I have just described to you and it worked and it didn't interfere with iTunes.
