Gray boxes in iTunes store - Windows

When I launch iTunes under a particular user logon on a Windows PC, I see grey boxes in the store where the cover art would be. This does not occur on another user logon on that same PC. So ... I assume this is a user specific / profile issue. Any idea how to get the pictures to load under this user logon?

Don't get me wrong i'm glad the OP is satisfied with the other user "solutions", and although i know perfectly this is not my thread i want to mention those are not solutions but "patches" the issue here is Apple and it is Apple the one that should fix this, things were fine before May.

This issue is not new it has happened many times over and over again in the past:

Event the communities forums are a mess right now, they're modifying stuff and they are pretty slow.

Guess i'm gonna open my own thread this is still definitely "Not" fixed.

I don't know the others but me i'm using this beauty;

http://windows10-dpi-fix.xpexplorer.com/

All my old software looks "DPI normal" at different Windows 10 DPI resolutions, sadly, the iTunes software doesn't (store only).

Again, things were fine for everybody before May, after that Apple geniuses "moved something" and still don't care to fix it....

This worked for me. Changing/overriding the high DPI setting.

The Windows scaling and reset cache did not work.

I'm not sure what/when triggered the "grey boxes" problem in my case. My iTunes is up-to-date.

Still, it seems that this should be Apple's responsibility to make it work across all platforms and operating systems.

If they read the forums they know it's a problem.

Thanks for the fix

Hello,

As of today I am using iTunes Windows version 12.9.6.3 version which I downloaded from Apple.

I have an ultrawide 3440 x 1440 Alienware monitor and have been facing the DPI issue.

Recently I saw this forum and wanted to report that the DPI issue still does exist in version 12.9.6.3 when the scaling is greater than 100 it will display gray boxes in iTunes. As we all know the DPI issue technically has been never fixed by Apple even though this has been documented and reported to Apple since early 2016.

Even when trying the suggestions from okcameradude I am sorry to state images do not display correctly when my scaling is set to 125. They are gray boxes.

The only solution that I see that does work is setting the scaling to 100 and changing the ease of use settings to 125. However this is not an optimal solution as it does not scale other objects other than text. My eyes are not 20-20 anymore and I need to use DPI scaling.

As a software developer myself it amazes me that this issue has persisted this long without even an acknowledgement from Apple to designate a roadmap or fix. Seriously if my digital library was not the size it is I would have simply uninstalled iTunes and chose a more competent provider.

Technically speaking this has been going on longer than months but unfortunately YEARS. Like I said in my prior post it is simply a mystery why Apple has not addressed the issue as I am sure both their QA and Development team are fully aware of the DPI scale issue that is affecting customers that utilize ITunes. If Apple is not aware of the issue then they would have to be asleep at the wheel or living under a rock not to know.

So in my opinion why has this issue not been resolved? Simply perceived the ITunes is not a big market to Apple, lets be real if the issue affected the iPhone market then Apple would resolve those issues but for people like you and me then it is not a priority.

So for those of us with 4K monitors or imperfect vision and need to set Windows scaling higher than 100% then we simply are forced to deal with the gray boxes.

doing the DPI settings don't work for everyone's computer, go to settings, display and change the size of text apps and other items back to 100% recommended this will give you the album cover pictures on iTunes store, the text, albums will go back to normal size as well as on your PC, I don't know what web browser you are using but in Microsoft Edge there is 3 dots in the top right corner click on the 3 dots and you will see zoom you can increase the size of the text but it only does it for the browser, I tried all of the other suggestions but they didn't work, what I have suggested here has worked for me.

hope it works for you.

This has been an issue for a couple years ever since 4K displays and the DPI work around used to solve it but with the latest itunes update that is no longer the case. This is happening on more than both of my PC's. It's unfortunate that apple hasn't even tried to resolve this and I'm done and looking else where to purchase my movies/songs.

Thank you for your input. I wonder, however, if it’s due to the technical specifications required by Apple? I thought the reason my laptop cannot see the iTunes page in full was because of that reason. Apple does not even reply when I ask them for help, but I wondered if it is their way of manipulating us into buying only Apple products... Anyway, it’s all very vague and a great pity.
