After updating to iOS 13, all photos previously sent and received through iMessage are gone. Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution?

Just a suggestion which you may have already tried, but on my phone if I click on the info icon at the top and scroll to the bottom it says x number of images in iCloud and there is an option to download them. Hope this helps
AHall4 those photos in 'Details" are photos sent between you & contact , that will not solve missing photo in contact on I-message.
I have found when a contact photo goes missing just restart the Mac, that usually solves for a missing contact photo!
Sadly I can’t even turn ON iMessages now.
I get an error saying I must turn on mobile data. It IS on...
I previously had hotspot on and now get a message saying I can only use it over WiFi or USB. Extremely annoying.
For some reason today I also can’t get photos in the Messenger app whereas yesterday I received some. So bloody annoying Apple.
I’m facing the same problem as well. This is a very serious problem and those photos mean a lot to me. Apple pls do something about it.

I have hundreds of photos in my iMessages , please bring back the photos!
I have an 8 plus and the update fixed it. I’m just having problems with my email, it keeps showing unread when I have already opened it.
This only happened to me when I updated to 13.1.2
Mine updated on its own last night and all of my photos are missing. iMessage is on. He’s have restarted phone and still nothing, HELP
Same thing happened to me. Did 8 restores and got a replacement phone. Still not working. Engineering was supposed to call me back but has not. Any suggestions are appreciated

Yes it’s there. The photos are not however. I’ve been on with Apple and they are clueless
That makes no sense. The messages app has nothing to do with the photos app. I don’t see what you’re talking about.
I have tried everything. Hoping the next update will solve this finally
The only thing I haven’t tried is turning on and off messages in iCloud. Too afraid. It gives a warning that it is still downloading....
