And when you’re done you change the file download location part back to “downloads”, the original folder that was selected beforehand.

Any updates on your end from your talk with Apple Support?

How many photos do you have? How long did the entire back up take?

I have sent in diagnostics from the phone, screen shots, videos of the problem on now 3 occasions. Still nothing and told not to keep trying things as I may be making things worse

I am 13.2.2. The issue started at 13.1.3 on my new phone (which was updated over air at the start setup of the phone).

And no. It won’t download anything at all that’s before I got the new phone. And iMessage still shows I haven’t downloaded everything from the cloud.

I wonder if I could also do a backup with google drive since I don’t enough have space on my computer?

I can manually back up my photos/videos to a flash drive but not everything else.

So did your photos/videos/attachments finally index after the restore?

does the phone actually have to be plugged in to the computer for the 24+ hours while the photos download? if so that’s unfortunately not a realistic option for me.

My photos are not showing in iMessage and that download link isn’t there

I just realized that not all links index so if I send you a link some index and some don’t. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks for this. I guess I'll try restoring from a local backup. Like you, following instructions from @th1ef and restoring from iCloud did NOT work for me.

On an unrelated note... Did you notice that safari history and phone records (recent calls etc) we’re gone when you restored? This has always carried over for me in the past.
