After updating to iOS 13, all photos previously sent and received through iMessage are gone. Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution?

Just a suggestion which you may have already tried, but on my phone if I click on the info icon at the top and scroll to the bottom it says x number of images in iCloud and there is an option to download them. Hope this helps

Yup I just installed 13.2.3 as well. No change. This is so frustrating.
Same for me. 13.2.3 changes nothing. Nor have I ever heard back from Apple after escalating to engineers.
Sucks for me I can’t backup to my computer because my computer doesn’t have enough space for a full back up of everything on my phone.
Except that's not it. Glad it worked for you but I and others have followed your instructions to the letter and it didn't solve the problem.
Yeah, personally I am done with Apple. I didn’t get any actual help from support. This problem isn’t going to get fixed. If their updates are making false promises that’s even worse.
Did you do a OTA update? I mean seriously, why would the update that states it fixes the issue make it worse? Oy, we are in for it.

So what are you saying? You did a full restore to 13.2.2 per your prior instructions and got everything back? Then you upgraded to 13.2.3 and lost half of the attached photos?

Ooh, you burned me good. The point is that none of the fixes presented have resolved the issue, therefore I am understandably frustrated.
Someone help please. Not using my brain I immediately updated to 13.3.3, but it was an over the air update. What steps do I follow from here?
