After updating to iOS 13, all photos previously sent and received through iMessage are gone. Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution?

Just a suggestion which you may have already tried, but on my phone if I click on the info icon at the top and scroll to the bottom it says x number of images in iCloud and there is an option to download them. Hope this helps
They hid them in the cloud, never to be seen again - read all the messages to confirm
I’m having the same problem. And the ‘download’ section isn’t there for my photos, even though I sync my messages to the cloud.

this happened as I was switching onto my
new pro 12.
Did you set up as new or do a full restore?
I originally set up using the cloud. That didn’t work so I returned to factory settings and then instead tried to have it copy directly from my other phone. That also hasn’t worked.
Same. I'm very frustrated. I did everything correctly. All the messages are there, just no links/videos/pictures.
That’s too bad - it’s a known issue but they aren’t fixing it.
Maybe as more people experience it as they upgrade their phones, Apple may choose to address.
I have a call scheduled with Apple tech tonight. I will update the thread afterward.
Got it, thanks. I spoke to an agent yesterday and today, all they said is we're not aware of the issue simply restore you phone again.... I would hate to have to do this and nothing is fixed.
I second what’s noted above, they are aware. It’s just not big enough to demand a fix yet.
I think a way to bring some attention would be to get MacRumors to do an article given how prevalent it’s become and that’s it’s gone on probably 18 months or more now.

This did not work for me. However, if I scroll through the message history they appear, but are not easily accessible as they were before through the “info”. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
So does that mean they will fix the photos so we can see them again or not? That’s not fair. They need to fix this.
