Photos in iMessage disappeared after ios13 update

After updating to iOS 13, all photos previously sent and received through iMessage are gone. Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution?

Just a suggestion which you may have already tried, but on my phone if I click on the info icon at the top and scroll to the bottom it says x number of images in iCloud and there is an option to download them. Hope this helps

When you send or receive a photo in a message thread, the photo remans in that thread. After 12.0 you could look at the "I" drop down and below the messages reside every photo, link, and attachment from the thread. Mine is missing. It is there on my mac and my iPad but since 13.0 it is missing in every person I text. I have 1000's of photos and in the cloud show 15gb of photos in messages but none are indexed or able to be viewed unless I scroll up within the message and I can see all of the pictures.

No, there aren’t only 10 people - never thought that. But this has been an issue since September (according to Apple discussions) and people have contacted apple support without any real solutions. On apple discussions it appears at least 300 people have this issue based on who checked “me too.” There’s several discussion pages on it but this one has the most responses.

Like I said, I’ll continue to see how this goes and explain the issue to them but I am not sure how it will turn out unless thousands and thousands of users are affected/report it. And gee, thanks for those offers! Lol.

It would have been nice if this issue wasn’t here to begin with. A tech worker friend of mine isn’t aware of other smart phones having this particular level of issue with users losing/not having access to data. Perhaps it has though and I am unaware? This isn’t just a minor “bug” but messages, recordings, photos, and videos people pay to have not being available. Anyone has the right to be very upset. They can be upset and contact Apple support; it isn’t mutually exclusive. But I can say that yes, I do agree people complaining must also contact Apple support and look for solutions - and some have. You also bring up some good points in the beginning of your comment.
