Upgraded to Catalina several hours ago. iMac has gone to "sleep" 4 times and each time failed to "wake". Had to do "hard reboot". Anyone else?

I contacted J5 create customer service and they said they had a work around until new driver is updated:
It worked for me:

Hello Debbie
Before installing the latest driver software, it will require that we uninstall any currently installed j5create device driver first.
Please uninstall the driver software for the j5create USB adapter by doing the following:
1. Click on the desktop background
2. In the upper left-corner of the display, locate and select "Go" then select "Computer".
3. Select "Macintosh HD".
4. Select "Library".
5. Select "Extensions".
6. Find the following: "AX88179_178a", "MCT_trigger2.kext", "Trigger5Core.kext", "DJTVirtualDisplayDriver", "MCTTrigger6USB" and/or "MCTTriggerGraphics.plugin.
7. If any of these files exist, drag each of them to the trashcan.
After completing the uninstall process, proceed with the following:
Immediately after installing the device driver, please do the following:
Finally, after the computer has fully rebooted, plug the display adapter into a USB port directly on the computer, then connect the video cable into the video OUT port on the j5create adapter and into the video IN port on the display. Power on the display and ensure that the display is on the correct input mode, i.e. on VGA, HDMI, DVI. From here, on the connected display, you should see the desktop background and the display should now be ready to use.
However, if the display does not activate after everything has been connected, I recommend that you do the following:
Please be aware, If you are running the official release of macOS 10.15, we do not guarantee that this driver will allow for optimal functionality of j5create USB display adapter on your system. However, the driver being provided has been tested with the official macOS 10.15 Catalina release and we can confirm that the driver should allow for moderate functionality of the j5create device on macOS 10.15. Depending on your system specifications, you may experience general bugs. General bugs/glitches are to be expected with the beta driver, however we welcome all feedback!
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding to this matter!

Thank you.

I suffer from this blackscreen BAG after awaking MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) 10.15.3
I tried everything that was recommended in this thread and it always coming back :(
Also, I noticed that the touch-bar is off and if I connect the external display I can see the screen on it and gracefully reboot the MBP to get the stuff work again.
Any idea, I'm desperate here 🥴
@Apple please 🙏🙏🙏 address this annoying issue
I got the same problems. Done tons of research, tried every possible solution, contact Apple. Non of these solves the sleep/wake problem my MBP encounters. I don't know what's happened to Apple that they can be quiet on this issue for so long. Disappointed.
Did this ever get fixed? I am having the same issue with my MacBook Pro Retina with Touchbar. I even took it in and they thought it was the sleep wake sensor and replaced my logic board and still have the same issue. I have tried all of the fixes here and even re-installed Catalina...
Hi Eugene,
Sorry, I was no able to answer before today. Well, your pmset config seems to be Ok. So, the only cause I see is that your MB was sleeping with only battery as energy-source, could it be?
If that was the cause, remember that when battery runs out of energy, current session will be lost. This is the disadvantage of no hibernation mode active.
I hope to work on this when I have some spare time (or a way to make a living out of my time spent on solving Apple issues :))
Thanks for sharing
Jorge
Me too.
Have this issue after clean installation of 10.15.4 on my Mac mini.
Did NVRAM and SMC reset, disabled Dropbox from load.
That is just hilarious, Catalina is a disaster. Apple is not capable to produce usable software.
It looks like installing and configuring Gentoo linux will be more time efficient.
Same issue. Seems to happen every time on resuming from sleep after the Catalina upgrade.
iMac Pro.
I Reset NVRAM with no luck, and will try safe mode after work today. In addition to the Mac not waking, I do see my cursor and notifications still appear but screen remains black.
MB PRO 2018 just installed CATALINA, reset NVRAM, SMC, still no luck with wake after sleep without having to to do a hard reset. major problem!
Glad that worked, you're welcome!
I’ve tried both of these suggestions with no luck, what now?
Thanks!!
Tried safe mode and put my Mac to sleep but then it freezes unresponsive so can't restart.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one having this issue. Installed Catalina and haven't been able to wake my iMac after it's been left for a while. Hope they sort this out quickly.
Same here, macbook pro mid 2014. NVRAM reset didn't help neither safe mode this is so bad!
