I’ve found that turning on and off the speakerphone function during the call solves it which means it’s not a physical problem. If I hold it vertically facing the screen it happens a lot more than if I hold it horizontally and speak into the bottom about 6” from the phone as well.

I called apple support again last week and complained again. First they didn't take me serious again. The person I talked with at Apple support kind of freaked out when I mentioned that there is already a forum online about this problem. After a long conversation he finally gave me an address of Apple in Ireland which I can use to send my complaint. In this complaint I'm going to mention this forum also and I have collected several serial numbers of my friends which are also experiencing this problem. I hope that they will acknowledge this problem after reading it. I just spoke to Apple support and they said they never heard of the issue. Then ran a diagnostic on my phone and said that my software was out of date. When I read my iOS version and build it turns out I was up to date. They didn’t have a reason and said to bring it into a store to be looked at. My phone is a couple of months old and no other issues.

It’s not the case. I took my phone case off and it’s still does that. I have iPhone 11 and my gf have iPhone 11 Pro. Both phone have a hissing and nosiey when both on speaker. When I use my other brother iPhone 8 and my little sister iPhone X. It doesn’t do that.

ita a manufacturer issue with the speaker on the new phones that just came out.

This is a huge problem for my father-Apple please fix!

I purchased this phone (iPhone 11) for my father as a Christmas present. He has muscular dystrophy and literally does not have the strength to lift the phone too his ear. Speaker is the only way he can make calls. But everyone he calls complains about the echo. Please fix this issue. He has enough to deal with on a daily basis- this should not be an additional struggle.

Adjusting the volume button or plugging in the headphones is beyond his capabilities on his own. So the troubleshooting options are less than helpful- though understood.

Really hoping something can be done.

The echo on speaker issue happens when I connect to my car on blue tooth.

It happens in or out of the case.

It happens if I turn down the speaker.

It happens if I turn the speaker phone off and on again

I rolled back to a previous IOS and wiped the data.

it happens no matter who I call.

it disrupts the responses I hear from the caller.

This isn’t a design flaw. It’s a safety hazard!

I took the phone in for diagnostics. They said it’s fine.

When I pointed out the echo after a proof-of-issue call they said it was because I was inside the store! 🤣

i called the support line, and they told me to call back on a different phone because they could not understand what I was saying due to the echo.

I have the syslogs.

I have case numbers.

I am not exaggerating. I have the data to prove it’s an issue.

I bought a phone, that does not work like a phone.

I will try again with a completely different “genius” on Saturday.

I will be sure to point out that in the event of an emergency, the speakerphone feature is used to communicate with tactical teams and emergency personnel.

Even if they give me a new phone, the moment I update the IOS to comply with security protocols, my ship is sunk again.

My iPhone is so secure, I can’t even use it! Lol!

It is not the case! We all still have the issue.

I have removed my case.

The microphones are faulty. There is a problem with echoing. Please let us know what we can do to resolve this. We should be able to get a refund.

I have cleared off this phone 3 times now and then re-installed my back up. Still an echo. The speakerphone is not useable on my iphone. Nor on my daughter's or husbands too. They are flawed (and very expensive).

I’m having this problem as well. IPhone 11, no case. The other party hears their voice back when I’m on speaker. My partner has the same iPhone, software version. His works fine. It is completely reproducible.

I didn’t notice in the pages of replies... when going to the apple store has anyone demonstrated the problem? It is so easy to reproduce, I can’t imagine them denying it’s a problem.

I have the same problem. I purchased iPhone 11 Pro and my clients say they are getting echos of their own voice when I have them on speakerphone. It’s only when I am on speakerphone. I have no case on mine so that’s not the cause. I am likely going to return this iPhone and switch back to my Samsung. Apple said that the device is “functioning as intended..”. Pretty bad. I won’t be buying another Apple product after this.

I have the exact same issue with my iPhone 11 Pro. unfortunately it's effecting my clients in a professional environment. they complain that when i have them on speaker phone that they are hearing their own voices echo back on their side. the only solution is for me to not have them on speaker, which is not convenient for me. i have taken it into apple and they say that the device is "functioning as intended..." i am going to return my iphone 11 pro and switch back to my samsung as their version of "functioning as intended" doesn't include horrendous feedback. Apple failed on this one. It will be my last apple product i purchase.

I use my speaker phone to comply with state law. This problem makes it impossible to use my 11 in the car. I am using an old X. My wife is using the 11. Shame $1,000 phone that I can’t use. Recent call to Apple got the response. Try turning down the volume (then can’t hear), Remove cover ( If I can’t use protected cover will Apple cover any damage for free), and back up information and do a hard factory reset. Come on Apple fix the problem. There is no problem with the X, Xs, Xs pro, or Xr. Fix the 11’s or replace them

THIS IS NOT SOLVED. The original post may have been solved with a little common sense but there is still a fundamental soft or hardware problem that needs to be addressed. I have been told and have then confirmed that people will here themselves in an echo when I speak to them using the speaker phone on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, running the latest build of ios.

Speakerphone is something I have been using with all my iPhones going back to my first iPhone, the 3G or whatever.

I cannot tell it started with the new phone it the new is or any of the recent upgrades since the phone and os came out same or very close days and I only recently started dealing with the issue.

Can we re open this please?
