Echo on speaker calls iphone 11

Try going to this thread (below). There are a lot of posts and I believe it is still an open case. Clearly this is a BIG issue! I think I was one of the original posters on this thread. It was mostly solved with changing my case but there are still sometimes when the ECHO happens.

I got this message from Apple.

“After reviewing your feedback, we have some additional information for you.

This is a known issue and will be addressed in a future software update”

I hope that means that there is a fix in the works.

We have a 7s, X, Xs, and an Xr. No problems with any of those. But my 11 is not useable on speakerphone.

I almost never post on forums like this, but I feel like it's a moral imperative.. ha.

I have had this issue since the very beginning. It was so frustrating because I use speaker phone a lot. At this point, I just accepted it and used plug in headphones (which also avoids the echo).

I called tech support b/c my hotspot wasn't working right. I reset the network settings, waited for the phone to reboot, spoke to my wife and the echo is GONE!

Settings >> General >> Reset >> Reset Network Settings

I don't believe this is case related. When I call someone and my phone is on speaker phone the other person hears an echo and what sounds like feedback. It also happens with FaceTime.

On my phone I shut off noise cancelation (in the accessibility settings) which seemed to mitigate the issue a bit, but people still hear an echo when

I call.

I contacted Apple several weeks ago and they referred it to Engineering to research. I gave them this forum to check, but they stated many times that they DO NOT monitor these posts. They drug the issue out for weeks and asked me to troubleshoot many different solutions, all of which did nothing. I am NOT on Beta and only on the latest official IOS release.

So PLEASE contact Apple and file a complaint of your own. That is the ONLY way it will be addressed!

We are having the same issue on our 11 pro max when speaker is used. Carrier swapped phones due to them being unable to fix, after 1.5 hours. The new iPhone 11 Pro Max is doing same thing. My I phone 11 pro does not have this issue.

This echo is happening to me too. The listener on the other end of the calls hears an echo of themselves and it is always very annoying. We have verified this on phone calls, FaceTime, messenger, and whatsapp calls. It appears to happen on any call while using the speakerphone.

Update..

I had beta 13.3.1 running. I wiped the phone and downgraded to 13.3 then restored all apps. Since then the echo is gone. Not sure if this is helpful but it worked for me. I was sick of waiting for Apple to resolve.

I follow the discussion because it happens to me as well with my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

It seems the problem happens whenever the speakers are used with a registration process (regular calls, facetime calls, etc)

Apple support chat asked to do some tests:

I tried removing my case, didn’t work.

I tried rebooting it, didn’t work.

I tried to record a video, microphone works normal

I tried to record a memo, works normal

I have tried with and without the case. It still echos. It has been doing this since I purchased the phone 2 months ago. I have several friends and family members that also have this issue. It is horrible, considering how much I paid for the phone and can not use this feature as of now.

Since the microphone and the speaker on your iPhone are not very far away from each other, if your speaker is turned up too high, your microphone can pick up the sound. This can cause an annoying echo loop. Simply turn down the speaker volume.

Hi I have same problem and I take my phone to the Apple Store after they check it they change it to another new phone , also the new one have same problem echo in the speaker , my phone it’s iPhone 11 I don’t know what to do and I P a lot because I buy it cash so please I need help thank you

My iphone echos, and no I am not on specked and the case is not on - it does not do this all the time but very often.

Not only this but people keep complaining that my phone is dropping out often even when i am in the same areas when it does not do this?

Plus there are clicks on my phone when i am on a call, and this happens when my phone echos.

Unfortunately the same thing happened to my family. Took the phones in got new ones due to the echo. The new ones had the echo still. Case or no case on then. Updated to the latest software version and they still hear the echo. Some Android users don’t hear the echo, but other iPhone and landline users still do. We can try setting up an appointment at a Genius Bar, but the nearest one is 2.5 hours away. Frustrating as we have also spoken to Apple certified techs and nothing appears to be wrong with the phones.

I’m having the SAME problem. It only happens when I call my friend who also has an iPhone 11. It happens when on speaker and when not using speaker. My voice echos and lags and it’s hard to hear each other and is very fuzzy. Then it sounds like waves or like someone else rustling around on the phone. It’s really inconvenient and I can’t find anything online about it or how to resolve.
