Cannot Sign-in to Music and TV App after Catalina 10.15.1

Hi All, I tried to sign into Music and the new TV app on my Mac and I don't seem to be able to get in. I get two different error messages could not connect to the iTunes Store "unknown error (1001)" and "unknown error (11556) make sure your connection is active? Does anyone else have this issue or tips on how to solve it? 😊

Hi all

Finally found solution without deleting your account. Thanks to Serge Rosenthaler for his reply on another post.

1) sign out of iCloud on your Mac

2) Open Terminal & use the following commands:

sudo -v

***Enter Your Mac Password***

killall -9 accountsd com.apple.iCloudHelper

rm -rf ~/Library/Accounts

killall -9 accountsd com.apple.iCloudHelper

3) restart your Mac

4) Open Music App & sign in to your account (You should sign in to your account)

5) Check your TV & Podcast Apps (You should sign in to your account)

6) Open System Preferences & go to iCloud (You should sign in to your account) just activate iCloud Drive

I solved this problem by turning off Firewall in the Security and Privacy options in System Preferences. I don't know if it will work for anyone else but hope it helps.

I have tried this thing with terminal. Didn’t work. Apple support didn’t suggest me this as well. They said I can try to create a new user and it worked. Because it got messy I have finally made a clean install. And I mean formatting the hard drive. And (important!) sign in to Music first and to iCloud later. But sure, it’s always better to try terminal or creating new account. And a clean install as a last thing. Whatever helps. All the best

Have the exact same problem as the OP - no access to AM nor ATV+. Get the same "An Error Occurred - Try Again" when selecting "Broswe" and also get the "FUSE"-error in a popup window when trying to "Sign up" (to see whether that would lead to something).

I've noticed that creating a new "admin" account on your Mac and continue working on that one (i.s.o. your original user account) apparently seems to work for a lot of people. I however refuse to take this route (it is not a real solution but a workaround) as I have too many dependencies everywhere and nowhere.

I did try the second suggestion (killing the account-daemon, removing the ~/Library/Accounts directory, rebooting ) which did force me to re-login into my iCloud, re-add other mail accounts and what more but it didn't solve my issue either: Still no AM & no ATV+ !

I just tried de-authorizing my computer (1st attempt it return an unknown error 1001 message, 2nd attempt it succeeded) and then signing in again for Apple Music - no success either :(

For what it is worth: I have a family iCloud subscription.

There is nothing wrong with my iCloud account (it is not blocked) as I am able to access the services (ATV+, AM) on my other devices (apple TV, iPad and iPhone).

I had chat session with Apple support (Netherlands) this morning and after explaining my problem (initially the lady had me start the iMac in safe mode first but that didn't solve it - tried that one myself already but didn't want to sound stubborn) she consulted a senior colleague (after I mentioned the "FUSE"-message I got) who concluded that it wasn't my fault but that they were working pretty hard on their side to get this sorted out. In other words: They confirm it is an issue on their (Apple's) side!

Let's wait and see whether a fix will be released soon.

The solution above that apple posted is not the correct solution. The problem seems like an iCloud problem to me.

IF:

  • you have Catalina
  • don't have general, pervasive iCloud problems (most things work, but music, or tv or podcasts.. something specific, does not)

You try to sign into music, tv, podcasts and it either accepts your password and then does nothing OR you get this error when trying to sign in: **FUSE.Error.GenericDataError**

THEN:

The correct application was posted by 'ehabjadalla' and it's buried a bit in the replies. I am reposting his fix here to make it easier:

Should fix it. It's easy to do.

Hi;

I tried all the solution listed above, and none worked. Fortunately, given that I had just re-installed Catalina, I didn't have e lot of things already on my my Mac.

So, I took a more radical approach - I downgraded to 10.14 Mojave, then signed in iTunes (without a problem) - then I upgraded to Catalina - again, the upgraded went smooth and quick, considering that I only had the bare OS installed.

Once there, I tested the Music and - lo and behold - I was signed in !

I have the same issue after I decided to format my MBP mid 2012 for the first time.

It seems that with the end of iTunes on Catalina apple made a mess with accounts connections, now we have books connection (working), App Store (Working), iCloud (Working), iTunes Store on Music (NOT Working), TV (Not Working) Cannot authorise the device or Sign in. Errors are 11556 and 1001 and the Fuse thing.

Checked apple ID , Country and Region Date/Time, Number of allowed Devices (5), and cleanned the /var/db/crls/ cache.

The problem is only on MBP all other devices are ok.

Apple service status says that iTunes services are working well on my country and region (Portugal), But seeing here all this comments with the same problem at the same time, it seems that this is a brand new problem that is global to iTunes service.

Another thing that doesn't work is reinstalling OSX.

So I created a new user account, and now from that new administrator account, I can log into Apple TV app and see my library. Seems very awkward to have to log into an entirely different account to access my TV/Movie/Music library. If I want to watch something, I'm in user account B. Can I possibly transfer settings, files, etc from user account A to User account B?
