Cannot Sign-in to Music and TV App after Catalina 10.15.1

Hi All, I tried to sign into Music and the new TV app on my Mac and I don't seem to be able to get in. I get two different error messages could not connect to the iTunes Store "unknown error (1001)" and "unknown error (11556) make sure your connection is active? Does anyone else have this issue or tips on how to solve it? 😊

Hi all

Finally found solution without deleting your account. Thanks to Serge Rosenthaler for his reply on another post.

1) sign out of iCloud on your Mac

2) Open Terminal & use the following commands:

sudo -v

***Enter Your Mac Password***

killall -9 accountsd com.apple.iCloudHelper

rm -rf ~/Library/Accounts

killall -9 accountsd com.apple.iCloudHelper

3) restart your Mac

4) Open Music App & sign in to your account (You should sign in to your account)

5) Check your TV & Podcast Apps (You should sign in to your account)

6) Open System Preferences & go to iCloud (You should sign in to your account) just activate iCloud Drive

I'm having the exact same issue. Was on call with Apple support and really no help from them. They had me reinstall MacOS and the issue still remained. Created a new admin user and nope still doesn't fix it for me. *sigh I give up. Apple please fix this issue! I'm on a brand new 2019 Macbook Pro that isn't even a month old. I feel like they screwed up somewhere when they got rid of iTunes.

Have managed to recover Apple Music on 10.15.1. on my MacBook Air.

Ended up re-installing the whole OS which is time-consuming on my slow 6Mb internet.

Anyway got there in the end, but noticed it is crucial to get the whole sequence of Apple ID and sign-in to Apple Music absolutely correct. Once you get it right, then you're straight in to Apple TV and the others.

I realise that, overall, Apple security is good; but it sure is fickle at times.

Ease of Use is of great importance!

have already clean installed Catalina several times but the problem stays!

I found out that my MacBook password is some how switched with mij Apple ID ?I don't know how this is possible because on my other devices I don't have that problem en Apple Music is there working well at them.

I think I will wait till Apple sort it out with an update or so?I also noticed that when installing, on verifying my iCloud id it takes a very long time and I have not the possibility to give any input or look at it.

Contacting apple support about this was pretty useless

I juggled between apple tech support staff for an hour playing the "let me transfer to technical staff" game and none of them knew the problem/solution nor did they wanted to admit it was a bug. Despite the fact that I mentioned I am chatting through same machine, I was asked to troubleshoot internet connection. And when they could not understand the meaning of errors in screenshots shared, I was then told to reboot the system in safe mode which would obviously disconnect the chat and the baton passing game carries on.

I’m having the same problem, can’t log in to “iTunes Store” and The TV App. Same error codes. I tried the 2nd user account and it worked, but it’s too much work to change over my main account. My playlists are also not syncing correctly from Music app to my phone. But for now trying to resolve the iTunes Store logging in issue.

I was on the phone with Apple support for a while, went to level two help, she sent me a link to diagnose my computer and we emailed it to Apple engineers for diagnosis. She will call me on Tuesday with the results. Hopefully something will come of it.

Oké, For me this was a solution .

for you all who do a clean installation of Catalina don’t fill in your iCloud account during installation, but fill it in after installation of Catalina. For me music etc.. works again. I only have now a message on tv icon but I don’t find the message?

hope it works for others to!

I think I need to clarify a couple of points that I think some of you are having with this issue and with my solution.

You have no need to change your Apple ID, because all of your music is linked to that.

The problem relates solely to the device user account in

System Preferences > Users & Groups.

I found that when I had this issue with Apple Music when logged-in on my iMac; that my wife could sign-in to her Apple Music account on my iMac even though she was not logged-in to the iMac. This indicated to me that the problem was not related to Catalina 10.15.1.

It indicated to me that the problem was related to my Log-in on the device.

By adding a new Admin Account using my Nick-Name + Surname (instead of First-Name + Surname) and using my same Apple ID on this new account, the issue was gone.

Once you have made another User/Admin Account to log-in to the device/machine; de-authorise Apple Music and then log-out of the device on the old User/Admin Account.

Then log-in to the device/machine using your new User/Admin Account. Open Apple Music and re-authorise the device/machine. Close Apple Music and re-open it and you should see in the bottom left-hand that it is updating artwork. Let it complete this. When it has finished then you will be able to sign-in to Apple Music and you are set to go. Once Apple Music is working then you can get rid of your old User/Admin Account by going back to System Preferences > Users & Groups and deleting the old User/Admin Account.

To me it doesn’t matter that I am using ‘Fred Bloggs’ instead of ‘Frederick Bloggs’ when I log-in to my device/machine as all my data is still there under my same Apple ID.

Hope this helps!

Hi! I've tested your solution and it indeed works. Kudos for that. Unfortunately it is not a good option for me. I have a bunch of scripts baked with my username, and a lot of software and data installed that rely on paths derived of my username.

I really can't see another way to solve this issue, but it should be as simple as deleting some configuration files.

I will try to log off fully from iCloud on this machine and later login again and see if this works.

Hope someone else is looking into this and can come up with a better solution.

I have been having the same issue with my iMac and MacBook Pro and after reading a few of the suggestions was inspired....

I just opened 'Music', clicked on accounts on the tool bar, and from the drop down menu selected Authorisations. I de-authorised and then re-authorised both computer and now my Apple Music is working again on both of them.

If it makes any difference, I was able to use my Apple ID to sign into my account, that has never been an issue, it just wouldn't acknowledge i already had an Apple Music subscription or play anything.

Hope it works for others and wasn't just an isolated fluke!

I have the exact same issue. Started with this update. Even had to reinstall it to fix WIFI issues. Update took forever then hung up. But not able to get into Music of TV at all. Apple needs really fix this issue. But I will say they did help me with the WIFI issue very well. I do not want to create another ID just to work around this...that is absurd. Hope the fix is coming soon so I can enjoy my app as intended.
