So the app works fine except when I go to watch anything(movie or show) I get sound, but with a black/blank screen.
Anyone else have this problem???

Having the same problem. I can't believe the answer is to change the input. (hard for me to do given our AV cabinets. Why would Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV+ and other 4K HDR sources work fine, but just Disney Plus needs a different input??!
No weak chains in the HDMI connection. This is the article that made me think "oh, it's probably the switch"

I also changed the match dynamic range and frame rate AppleTV ratings and it worked perfectly. Are there any down sides to this approach? TV is a Sony Bravia.
I changed the HDMI output in the Apple TV settings and was able to get video to show up! Hope this helps.
Disney plus doesn’t work on my Apple TV says can’t connect to service error 42 any ideas why?
I tried all of the above suggestions and finally turned off ‘Match Dynamic Range’ and it worked.
I fixed it by going to Settings>Video and Audio>Format>1080p SDR.
Had to switch from 4K HDR to 4K SDR. Very annoying. This Disney+ app on AppleTV needs some fine tuning.

I had the same issue. Changed HDMI input from 2 to 1, thanks ChappyUGA. I also had to reset my JVC tv.
Now working.
Disney+ needs to look further into this issue.
Yes, switching HDMI inputs worked for my Bravia. In my case it was a reverse HDMI port number solution. Only sound on HDMI 3, but worked OK with picture on HDMI 2. My HDMI 2 is MHL
I fixed it by turning off ‘match dynamic range’.
I had issue of only having Audio English Description on Disney*.... I reset Video setting under Audio and Video in main menu and now it works.
