iPhone XS screen right side not responding for touching

Hi! Ever since I upgraded to 13.6.1 my screen’s right side faults to respond touching . It’s very strange because it doesn’t work all across the edge straight from the bottom to the top (see the screenshot, I tried to fill a note with a pencil). I actually have to flip my phone and type horizontally because the buttons on the right aren’t reachable.

Yesterday I tried switching the screen to larger mode in the settings and then switched back to standard and it helped for a while. But then it failed again and remains unresponsive until now. Any ideas what it could be caused by and what should I do now? I didn’t go for repairs service yet cause it doesn’t look like a hardware issue. Thanks!

Had the same issue after the ios 14 update. Cant type P or 0 or basically anything along the right side of the screen on my XS. Apple store said to restore the phone as new and not from a backup. Ill wait for the next update before I mess with that. They also suggested replacing the screen... no thanks since it was perfectly fine before the update.

I have the same issue with my iPhone XS. Suddenly I just cannot type letter P and all right edge of my touch doesn’t respond. I called and the customer service asked me to replace the screen with at my own cost. I will go to an Apple store on Tuesday, and I want to understand how they know it is not a product defect but my fault causing it. Seems there are a lot similar problems and Apple need to escalate it.

I spoke with apple a million times today over the phone. I have restored it but it didn't work. My 3 year warranty has ran out by one month - even though my problem started late September after updating it. So they basically told me to just pay for repairing it or buy a new phone, he even suggested buying a Samsung - which was interesting. But the other guys I spoke with were very nice and helpful, just not the last one.

I don't know what to do, I'm gonna try to restore it again just to see, but I doubt its gonna do anything. They broke my phone and thinks it's fair for me to pay for it. Nobody with a decent IQ would think it is fair, but alright.

It is sad as my phone could still have many good years in it, I haven't even finished paying for it. If this really won't get fixed, I might as well do as he suggested - buy a Samsung or something else.

This is just ridiculous.

not sure if this is consistent for others, but every time it has happened to me it seems to self resolve after about a week. Is still extremely frustrating, especially given the dependency on mobile device reliability for work (and life) these days. But a little bit of hope that you may not have to buy a brand new phone if you’re able to wait it out.
