iPhone 7 Plus Camera won't take pictures & calls can't be heard.

Just Googled my phone's symptoms thinking it was far too specific of a search but came across this thread with exactly the same issues as I have. Can't hear phone calls, default camera app not taking pictures, and resets aren't helpful. All of which just started this last week. I didn't update beyond 13.7 in fear of some classic planned obsolescence and sounds like updating to 14.3 is less than helpful.

I can't imagine this is a battery health issue as my capacity is currently at 84% which should be well within good-standing.

Very frustrating to be forced to spend hundreds on a new phone for no reason. If anyone happens to find a solution it'd be a godsend

It started happening to me too just now! I try to take a picture but the phone exits out of camera mode. It went dark randomly and it was difficult to turn back on. My iPhone 7 plus is pretty old but I haven't run into any issues until now.

I really love my iphone7, which I bought in Nov2016. I see lots of people has the same issue which I started experiencing this year and escalated now over xmas. I am unable to take photos and make video calls. I switched off and on and I could take photo, but problem is returning. I do not want accuse anyone but the feeling is apple make this on purpose so people buy new phone. Is it called planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence or premature obsolescence? But is this legal?

My bad - I guess what I mentioned was a little too soon for apple. My phone is still having issues a month later. The camera works on and off, I can take phone calls using my car microphone, but nothing else will work for recording sound/making phone calls including headphones. It's been a month with no solution, and only started after the latest update last month. I've tried turning my phone off and then on again a few times which actually fixed it for about a day. Then, it goes back to the same issues.

My iPhone7 plus has just started in last two days doing can’t hear calls and camera not working. I support homeless teenagers and they can’t get hold of me which is a dangerous situation to be in as a support worker I can’t believe since doing iOS upgrade it’s caused this. Apple you have a responsibility to your customers regardless of age of phone it’s sickening what you’re doing to force the market to upgrade. We are a charity service and can’t afford corporate world. Sort it

I’m grateful I found this thread and I know I am not alone. I thought for sure that maybe my phone got hacked....and now it’s a relief that there is a possible solution. Hopefully Apple or someone can service my phone (hands on) and fix it. I wonder if Verizon has the capability of doing such? Unfortunately, I may have to just buy a new phone. Hopefully, we’ll get that stimulus, then I can prolly afford it.

I'm in the same boat. Bought in October 2016, well taken care of. I do have a battery health warning. iOS camera app doesn't work, but third part apps do, and phone calls have no sound. I guess I'll have to dust off an old Android phone for the time being...

I really do think it is a software issue and keep checking and hoping for an update to install to fix the problem. I can't keep restarting my phone every time I want to make a phone call or take a picture. Does apple support even monitor these threads? Maybe we should send the link to them via social media?

Wow ! This is very upsetting! I too just started having problems with my iPhone 7 Plus. Same issues. Calls made & answered, but no sound. Can use other apps for pictures but crappy quality. Have tried everything also & no real solution. This is the worst time for everyone to have these issues. Apple is going to lose a lot of customers if they don’t try to do something!!! I take pictures of my kids daily & can’t just go out & buy a new phone during a pandemic!

Spent a good hour on the support chat with an Apple rep who did a lot of troubleshooting on my 7P with the end result being still no phone working, got talk to text back, and nothing else working still. But I have a support ticket open now so back to the drawing board tomorrow.....

I did this several times and im really getting frustrated because its consuming both my time and battery!!! Imagine i started doing it 100% and with 10x (really frustrating) rebooting, it will drop to 60%.... im never going to buy an apple in the future!!! IMMA USE SAMSUNG BRUH

iPhone 7 Plus microphone not working when receiving and making a call, no one can hear me, speaker is greyed out!!! This is absolutely ridiculous APPLE!!!

I have tried everything that has been suggested by your troubleshooting pages.

This has happened since the latest updates, and I’m not the only one with the same problem by the looks of it.

Apple should rectify this issue free of charge as it’s your doing that’s caused this hiccup! 😡

wait until it ask for your pin number, and your phone just resets itself after 1 fail...even though you never set it to clear after 1 attempt! Not even sure why that option is offered unless someone thinks they are perfect...

This is now a safety issue...standing outside coffee shop waiting to grab coffee...lady collapses...trying to call 911...ARE YOU KIDDING ME...SERIOUSLY CAN'T CALL...TRYING TO HELP CAN'T..RIDICULOUS..had to open door and ask someone to call 911...if its a hardware problem, recall phones and fix for free..if it's software fix...this is now a safety issue...
